Three Queen Street collisions reported

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded today to three separate motor vehicle collisions that resulted in injuries.

At approximately 10:55 a.m. a collision was reported at the intersection of Queen and Brock Streets. 

A vehicle travelling westbound made a left turn and collided with a pedestrian walking in the crosswalk. 

Injuries to the pedestrian were described as minor. 

81-year-old Clair Nott of Ferguson Avenue was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to yield to pedestrian.

A motor vehicle collision was reported at 2:00 p.m. at the intersection Queen and Gore Streets. 

No injuries were reported but the damage to one of the vehicles was moderate. 

18-year-old Ashley Culina of Second Line West was charged with failing to stop for a red light under the Highway Traffic Act.

A third collision was reported at 2:19 p.m. at the intersection of Queen St. E. and Simpson Streets.

Three persons were transported to hospital with minor injuries. 

A southbound vehicle on Simpson Street travelled into the path of a westbound vehicle on Queen Street East. 

38-year-old Shirley Yolkowskie of Elliot Lake was charged with fail to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act.

I saw the third one--im not sure people know queen st. is open again? Especially the multitudes still using wellington at rush hour! Please go back your old routes? :)

The person(s) who live in the house at the bottom of Simpson Street really need to trim those damn hedges! You can't see turning left unless you pull half way out onto Queen St. I'm sure those hedges had a role to play in that particular accident and they really serve no purpose being at that height. If nobody from the city wants to handle it I'll go do it myself if you like. Afterall, the best way to get something accomplished in SSM that the city should handle is...do it yourself! ;) Glad nobody was seriously injured but one day they will be and it'll be because of those hedges.

Pretty sure if enough people complain and the city determines the hedges do hinder visibility, the city has the right to cut them.
