Michigan workers to deliver broken cookies for broken promises at swearing-in ceremony tomorrow

'Walk of Shame' to showcase legislators who voted to harm Michigan’s middle class in 2012

LANSING – Tomorrow, legislators will be sworn-in at a ceremony at the State Capitol, where they will be welcomed by workers with a “Walk of Shame” to highlight votes during the lame duck session that hurt middle class families, women’s health care, and local schools.

Workers will also deliver fresh cookies to the offices of legislators who voted to defend the middle class, while lawmakers who sided with corporate special interests will be given a bag of crumbs to showcase how their votes are crumbling Michigan’s middle class.

Who:

Teachers, nurses, firefighters, construction workers, public employees, home care workers and others who support Michigan’s middle class

What:

“Walk of Shame” outside state capitol; workers delivering cookies to legislators’ offices

Visuals:

Posters of lawmakers who voted to harm middle class families in 2012; workers marching and chanting with signs, and delivering cookies to legislators’ offices
