It was a busy week for the Soo Greyhounds as they ende.d 2012 on home ice against Saginaw before embarking on a road trip that took them to Ottawa, Belleville and Kingston.
Prior to the road trip, the Greyhounds announced the signing of another 2012 draft pick.
Greyhounds defenceman Ryan Sproul earned honours from the Ontario Hockey League.
The Steel City Tournament kicked off on Thursday.
The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League's Soo Thunderbirds were on the road while the North American Hockey League's Soo Eagles were at home over the weekend.
The Lake Superior State Lakers hockey team faced nationally-ranked Union College at Taffy Abel Arena.
In tournament action, Algoma University returned from a CIS basketball tournament.
The Northern Ontario Curling Association provincial championships opened Thursday as well.
