Activity certainly seasonal, apparel not so much (photo)

Monday, November 26, 2012   by: Staff

Loyal reader Robert Drolet is shown doing what lots of folks have been up to today.

But we believe the 25-year-old's attire - shorts, to be specific - would be the exception rather than the rule.

"Pictures were taken by my 5-year-old son, Preston Drolet," Robert tells us in an e-mail.

"We're out at 1001 Second Line West in the Haldomin co-ops. My little guy said he really wanted me to send these to the paper people lol."

The snow might not be here to stay.

While flurries are expected to continue through Thursday, the Environment Canada forecast calls for highs of 6 on Friday and Saturday, along with rain as the week ends.

He lives in the co-op! and yet is wearing more designer clothing then I can afford on my income as a fulltime employee, a mortgage and 2 kids! thats ok my taxes will pay for his health care and prescriptions when he gets sick from cold exposure
PlasmaX 11/26/2012 4:39:14 PM Report

Oh yes he looks like he just stepped off the catwalk - come on now!!
kenge888 11/26/2012 4:58:55 PM Report

All of you people who comment stupid stuff on here should really reconsider what your saying!I guess you dont get out shopping much, but you can pick up name brand clothing at places like value village winners and now across the river tj max! So stop bashing every low income family in this city not everyone is like that! But I guess value village is out of your price range then if you say you cant afford that type of xlothing! I bet if you walk into that place today you will find at least 20 pairs of silver jeans which retail for over $100 DOLLARS WOW!

What some people do not realize is that there are alot of residents of "CO-OPS" that pay market value for the residents that they live in. Not just in this one but many around the city. It is not that they cant afford housing which is very scarce in Sault Ste Marie (but many are geared to income) for those who need it. Quit critising... for that you do not know !!!
AndyCap 11/26/2012 5:22:57 PM Report

Who cares what this guy is wearing? Mind your business and you will have less to whine about
Vicci 11/26/2012 5:25:19 PM Report

Well Pete I hope your kids are sweet, because you sure are bitter. You read a lot between the lines on this little piece.
KillaBeatz 11/26/2012 5:30:23 PM Report

lol im the guy in the photo. and for those who are not a fan of people in coops tuff luck its not easy afford two kids and everything now days. anyways yes im at market rent and for the person that was nice enough to stand up for me the shorts were purchaced at our local winners in the cambrian mall for 12$ on sale regular 79$ :D the jacket 4 years old purchaced at sport check during a summer clear out sale for 150$ regular 550$. hat was a gift. you dont need to be rich to dress nice and wear designer clothing. its quite sad how quick people are to judge others in this world its quite upsetting. wether low middle or high class people we are all still people and are all one in the same. ps we arent on social assistance so your "tax dollars" dont pay anything!

I think this was to be a light hearteded topice. Who cares about the price. I`m 64 and would not want to be in hes shoe`s
kamen 11/26/2012 7:12:54 PM Report

The fact of the matter is that he was wearing shorts outside while doing the shovelling. As for the price, anyone heard of Value Village? Birthday's, or maybe treating himself to a coat that will last a while and keep him warm? I am on housing and wear brand name clothing, I shop the sales, and most of my stuff is from Value Village because I don't feel that I am too good to shop there, meanwhile that is where the most brand name clothing is.
dayvan 11/26/2012 7:55:58 PM Report

Pete B: i cannot believe your comment. how rude! this little boy wanted to send in these pictures, and gets a reaction like that. judging someone on what they wear...i dont care where my tax money goes and who spends it, as long as the kids are fed and kept warm at night. and believe me when i say i am NOT made of money.

moem 11/26/2012 9:35:59 PM Report

Pete b

Wow, I bet you feel stupid now... You really didn't know about market rent? And of course value village has stuff that's brand name, and winners, not to mention the donations you can get at local agencies... Do you think rich people just burn their old clothes???

Why would you try and spoil a playful article like this?? Some people are just too miserable...

I'm glad the gentleman in the photo responded!!! Thanks for the smile,
KillaBeatz 11/26/2012 10:19:19 PM Report

It takes alot to bring me down :D Ive also learned in life that you have to make sacrafices to get things you want as well :D anyways Pete I dont hate what you said but I kinda wish you would at leaste be a man and apologize! Alot of people live in housing and what not and it is what it is! I work a full time job and my wife does as well. We choose to still catch a bus and not drive and rent a town house not own a house. But does that make us any less of a person like you???
Drmcorpschick 11/26/2012 11:49:54 PM Report

Don't worry Rob, I was out this morning in Short and a tshirt shovelling to. It was beautiful out at 830 when I was out there, only to have 2-3 more inches an hour later.

As for Pete, shall I bring back this summer's drama by saying Haters Gonna Hate?

You've got beautiful happy wife and children no matter what anyone says!

Go KillaBeatz Go!
I think it's super cute that your little guy wanted to send in the picture. Maybe he thinks its the first time ever in the history of the world that someone shoveled snow in shorts! cute!

There are so many Bitter Betty's in the Soo, and I think sometimes they are trying to be funny with their posts, but they don't realize how negative it comes off.

And it's always the negative Nelly's that manage to post first.

Great Picture Preston!! Nothing nicer than a 5 year old proud of his Dad and wants to send a picture of him to the "Paper People" .. You took a very good picture and I for one enjoyed seeing it very much.
