Male arrested for $120,000.00 Fraud

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Fraud unit have completed an investigation into an ongoing fraud that has cost a local construction company over $120,000.00.

The investigation began in August of this year when unusual bank activity was reported to one of the company’s accounts.

It is alleged that over the last 2 years the accused made 332 unauthorized cash advance transactions on a company credit card totalling $120,996.10.

As a result of the investigation, 49 year old Pasquale Muto of 580 Farwell Terrace has been charged with one count of fraud over $5000.00.

Mr. Muto was arrested by officers on Monday November 5th and will appear in court on December 3rd of this year.

Like...didn't this guy get caught doing this before???

Why would Sal-Dan hire this guy after what was done in the past. The guy is a crook and will always be one.

Norm 11/9/2012 10:43:35 AM Report

I don't know why they'd hire a Baboon
in the first place, can't trust them!!!
JustMe1234567 11/9/2012 11:33:37 AM Report

Steve-E- I searched the police beat archives and his name didn't come up for any previous crimes.

Norm- lol.
ThinkAgain 11/9/2012 11:50:08 AM Report

If it happened over 2 years, its bad booking/accounting within the company itself.
I mean its not right, but poor business practice with the owner/s.

The accused will get a slap on the hands and he'll work for someone else and do it again & again.
N1T5 101 11/9/2012 12:05:06 PM Report

Again my comment was deleated. Why are the police only giving this crook a court date? Cause they look out for thier own. Maybe a uncle/brother/father or friend. Sault ste amateur police are corrupt. That's a lot of money this guy stole and he gets a promise to appear LOL some kid pawns stolen goods he goes to jail for a few nights and I'm sure the kid didn't know the items were stolen or he would've had the sense not to pawn them. They tell you When you pawn stuff police will be notified if items are reported stolen. But again some Italian steals 120,000$ probably laughed about it when he got arrested and gets let out not moment too soon to spend some of that nice stolen cash. At least he can pay for a good lawyer from Sudbury or Toronto now that he's on the streets and could access his funds

1 count of fraud? shouldn't it be 332 counts?

N1T5 101 - I know why your comments are being deleted...because they are libelous and racist.
N1T5 101 11/9/2012 1:00:51 PM Report

libelous? Yes maybe a bit. Racist absolutely not. Biased would've bin a better choice of words instead of racist. I could see if used a different term instead of Italian.
hotlips 11/9/2012 1:57:26 PM Report

Stevie-E,

Yes you are right, he was arrested before and spent time in jail. Repeat offence now, hopefully his jail time will be a longer term.
Stevie-E 11/9/2012 2:11:59 PM Report

Yes. I thought he was caught doing something like this before. I believe it was back in the 2007/2008 embezzlement season.

Hello N1T5,

To bad you feel this way about us Italian's there is good and bad in any nationality. Its really to bad that your ignorance has been published in a public forum.I feel bad for people like you that are still living in the dark ages, may God take pitty on your ignorance.

sinikka 11/9/2012 4:24:58 PM Report

pat muto has resurfaced. Too bad sammy gave him a break and a new start. But folks once a thief always a thief. the last time his own family were victims. No morality no character, no substance. I feel for sammy because i am sure that someone begged him to give the chump a job in the first place. I also feel for his family because they have to go through this all over again. Put the chump behind bars again but must warn you the last term did nothing to deter the thief from striking again. Pitiful.
the coach 11/9/2012 5:32:49 PM Report

The guy is a snake.
Jamie333 11/9/2012 8:01:05 PM Report

I'm not sticking up for ol' Pascal in any way, but the owner/s should have been watching him (and their finances) closer if he went to jail for defrauding the last company he worked for.
Jayne12 11/10/2012 3:20:52 AM Report

Hey Spada4,
Before u go ranting on about living in the dark ages how about u try looking at ur own last name.. your still living in them too.. always will !!
spada4 11/10/2012 1:20:26 PM Report

To Jayne 12

What relevance does my last name have to do with dark ages. I am not prejudice I dont care what peoples last names are but it must be a factor to you maybe I should change it to appease you right. I find your comment highly prejudice and really there is no need for it. The reality is that our country is a mosaic of people from different nationalities that helped build this country and you should accept that and move on.
spada4 11/10/2012 1:39:44 PM Report

A crook is a crook no matter what color their skin is, no matter what their last name is. This person Pat Muto stole money from hard working people in the past and present. He should face the full brunt of the law hopefully he spares the tax payers a long expensive trial and admits to the crime, and the law should show zero leniency in this matter and give him the longest sentence the law is permitted. He should also pay full restitution to his former employer thats my hope. But we as people should keep the race card out of it and call him what he is a CROOK.
Working Man 11/10/2012 8:26:25 PM Report

I am guessing old Sammy didn't bother to check this guys previous criminal record. But, for this to go on for 2 years? You have to also blame their accounting/book-keeping dept. Then again, they probably don't hire 'chartered accountants' to do their books.

I'm sure they just don't give 'everybody' company credit cards. What is he a manager or something?

$120 grand is a lot of money for 2 years. I don't spend even nearly half of that for 'all' of my expenses. Yet he probably makes 75grand a year for his income and apparently 60grand/year (cash) on top of that! That would be very nice!
