Remembrance Day operations

The following City facilities will be closed on Monday, November 12 due to the Remembrance Day public holiday:

  • Cemetery Office
  • Children’s Centres (Jessie Irving and Maycourt)
  • Civic Centre
  • Ermatinger∙Clergue National Historic Site
  • Library (all branches)
  • Seniors’ Centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
  • Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing and Community Child Care)
  • Essar Centre Office
  • Transit Office

 Best Start Program - Holy Family School will be open.

Refuse, recycling, leaf and yard waste collection

No collection on Monday, November 12.

Collection for the balance of the week will be one day late. 

Refuse, recyclables, leaf and yard waste must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. to ensure pickup. 

The landfill site will be closed on Monday, November 12 but will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 17.

Transit Services

Regular Transit and Parabus service will operate on Sunday, November 11 and Monday, November 12.

There will be free transit service on Sunday, November 11 from 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to accommodate persons attending Remembrance Day services at the Essar Centre. 

Please note that at 11 a.m. Sault Transit buses will pull over to observe 1 minute of silence.

Parabus bookings for Saturday, November 10 to Tuesday, November 13 should be made by noon on Friday, November 9. 

The Transit office will be closed on Monday, November 12.
