nobodycares 11/2/2012 8:56:53 AM ReportHere is another example of the police doing their job, arresting the criminal,
When will we read this name again. Is he back on the streets already.
Moonshiner 11/2/2012 9:04:01 AM ReportIf he has already been released twice,3 strikes Your IN!!
sinikka 11/2/2012 9:46:18 AM Reportdo not blame the police, they book em, the courts and the left wing policies let them out.
zardoz 11/2/2012 10:56:48 AM ReportOkay the kids a thief and now his name is published and he will face charges. But leaving your camera in your car wasnt to smart either
nobodycares 11/2/2012 10:58:30 AM ReportThat is what I said. The police are doing their job. The police arrest the same people numerous times. Many times the same person within days of each offense.
Snowdon 11/2/2012 11:52:31 AM ReportSo what? That's the nature of a justice system. No justice system is perfect. You can't lock up every single non-violent offender, or there would be no money left to spend on anything but prisons and their maintenance.
A lot of non-violent offenders are going to be released on any number of orders. This happens because, like it or not, it's not the end of the world if petty thieves strike again, in the grand scheme of things. In the world of criminal activity, these are at the lower end.
The sooner certain commenters realize this, the better.
hitch 11/2/2012 12:24:33 PM ReportWellington St East is where my car got broken into (near 1500 block) Hey Tyler you piece of #*~%!! Where"s my ring and other stuff?
bluesslinger 11/2/2012 1:54:01 PM ReportLiberals coddle the criminals, and will find all sorts of justification for it.
hitch 11/2/2012 2:49:05 PM ReportI am not saying it was tyler but lot of these kids know eachother!--i had a kid bragging about what him and his friends do for $ for stuff!--i can't say anything about it due to confidentiality and not specific enough info either! Just bragging! A lot do know eachother!--and a lot slip thru cracks at pawn shops! Or people who like buying "hot" items!--also of course drug dealers!
How many times have we seen a lot of the same names for same offences on here? Its definately not the C/P'z fault--its higher up in the court system. 4 sure!
Working Man 11/2/2012 3:07:17 PM ReportBeat him!
PlasmaX 11/2/2012 3:26:14 PM ReportSnowdon: I think what people are frustrated about is the fact that these "petty thieves" have realized that if they are only going to get a slap on the wrist every time they are caught then it is worth it for them to just keep doing it. The problem IS getting worse and will continue to because these people can take advantage of our justice system. Changes need to be made to discourage people from this behavior or the justice system will be overloaded with the countless arrests, processing and court proceedings that cost the taxpayers money just the same as inmates in a prison. One of the biggest reasons why these kids are stealing is to get money to support their prescription drug habbits - other drugs too i'm sure but lately the prescription drugs have taken over. Changes to the justice system and a stronger crackdown on drug trafficking and use is what we need.
PlasmaX 11/2/2012 3:37:42 PM ReportSomething I forgot to mention in my previous post is that a criminal's life usually starts with "minor, non-violent" crimes and then escalates from there. If they feel like they can get away with it they are just going to become more and more bold. There should be ZERO tolerance for second-time offenders.
hitch 11/2/2012 6:46:22 PM Report@plasmax
Definatley!--it's all about the RX drug problem--OXY's plain and simple!
The street value doubled after March 1st as they are till available--just double the price! So double the break-ins! And more violent crimes!
For an 80 mg pill (one) they were paying a buck per mg now its double-to at least $150 for one pill on that scale of MG.
Its crazy! That's why the despartion of those addicted also! It is no excuse tho!

Snowdon 11/3/2012 2:24:26 AM ReportBut here's one from me, from recent statistics:
"Among the highlights of the Statistics Canada report: violent crime in 2011 was down by four per cent over the previous year; attempted murders fell by three per cent; aggravated sexual assault fell by 23 per cent; break-ins fell by nine per cent; motor vehicle theft dropped by 12 per cent; and robberies fell by three per cent.
As well, police reported that about 135,600 youths aged 12 to 17 were accused of a crime in 2011, about 18,000 fewer than the previous year."

So both serious and petty crimes have been dropping in Canada.
IceBlueEyes7127 11/4/2012 2:37:29 AM ReportLock your valuables up people!.. and like the other dude said, don't leave your cameras, wallets..(presc drugs) etc.. in your vehicle to get stolen, sad to say, but that's reality now a days. As for your house and the valuables in it, you don't have to install an expensive company alarm system in that either.. Get a nice big German Shepherd like I did! lol.. He's a loyal companion and protects the kids, a great addition to our family anyways. Problem solved.
PlasmaX 11/4/2012 9:34:47 AM ReportSnowdon:
Sault Ste. Marie ranked 32nd most dangerous city in Canada:
http://www2.macleans.ca/crime-chart/
This article is older but speaks the truth about the rise of crime in small towns:
http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/482162--violent-crime-up-in-small-town-ontario
I'm not saying the crime is on the rise everywhere in Canada but their are definetely hotspots and certain types of crime on the rise.
