State of emergency in Wawa - Bell services restored

WAWA - On Wednesday October 31, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were notified by Bell Alliance that 911 services had been restored to Dubreuilville, Missanabie and Hawk Junction.

Since October 25 all three communities were without land line telephone capabilities.

Bell reports that the connections have been restored and the community members now have land line capabilities.

At this time Highway 17 North bound from Wawa to White River continues to be under construction.

The OPP and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) warn motorists to drive with caution as the highway will have gravel sections.

This situation on Highway 17 southbound is the same - gravel sections and under construction.
