Beej 10/31/2012 11:26:03 AM ReportGreat, another monopoly, watch the prices soar. :(
Moonshiner 10/31/2012 11:44:50 AM ReportNo wonder we are always ABOVE the rest!
Nunavut 10/31/2012 11:52:58 AM ReportTheir retail Esso on corner of Wellington and Trunk is almost always first one to try higher gas prices on the Sault customer.
So we don't frequent them anymore.
pokey 10/31/2012 12:09:52 PM ReportAlways the first gas stations to go up and the last to come down in price.
Saultguy41 10/31/2012 12:53:31 PM ReportYou folks need to get your facts straight before saying that fuel prices are going to go up or that they own the ESSO stations in town.
opinionated 10/31/2012 1:25:34 PM ReportThey do own the Esso Stations do they not? They are a "branded reseller", meaning McDougall sells fuel under esso's name as far as I understand.
ronagirl 10/31/2012 1:58:20 PM ReportWhy is this allowed to happen, thought there was laws to protect and promote fair business. Oh I forgot this is ontario not alberta.
Sault_Girl 10/31/2012 2:55:04 PM ReportI get my heating oil from Leclair Fuels/New North, they have better prices (usually), better quantity discount and much better service. McDougall puts a flyer in my mailbox at least twice a year, wouldn't even consider switching.
Ricatoni 10/31/2012 3:14:51 PM ReportCongrats on the take over!!!! and the rich get richer...........
l&s campbell 10/31/2012 3:16:50 PM ReportSo how much do you want to seduce use now? Most people would buy you dinner first. Enjoy your retirement Brian!
RyanMc 10/31/2012 3:25:12 PM ReportCongrats McDougall Energy! So nice to see a local company growing and creating opportunities for those in our community. Keep up the great work!
JustMe1234567 10/31/2012 5:12:17 PM ReportWhat's with all the naysayers? Good for them to grow and expand. People in this town sure are cranky!
Beej 10/31/2012 7:56:29 PM ReportPeople in this town much like any other town don't care to be gouged by a company that has a monopoly, it started with the takeover of King propane and now this.
Is Leclair fuels next?
mallet 10/31/2012 9:20:10 PM ReportAnd people ask why do people go over the river to gas up.. when you gouge the retailer/gas bar, they only pass on what they have been gouged to the end customer/user, and it all comes out of the same tanks!!!
Ricatoni 11/1/2012 2:14:56 PM Reportheres one for ya all...I recently had some furnace work done in my house called wardlaw first they gave an estimate of $5,000 then called hendersons $4,200 finally called blue flame $2,000 for the exact same work..Guess were i went ??? morale of the story if your going to gouge people for thousands of dollars you wont be in business for very long...thx blue flame for being honest and a stand up company who isnt trying to rip people off for thousands of dollars...And oh yea I havnt bought gas in Canada for like ten years ...Just sayin! sorry Mcdonalds fuels but when I can buy an item for like $40 less then what your selling it for guess what ????
Derek1992 11/2/2012 12:56:06 AM ReportGlad to see two local businesses doing well. People in this city are too negative. And to see the word "monopoly" thrown around is laughable.
People also need to learn to read the whole story. Wardlaw Fuels didn't go out of business. A new business was created called Wardlaw Heating & Cooling. Change happens, companies develop and cities evolve. Embrace it.
