What will the cops do if they see an illegally parked car being broken into?
lambkins 10/31/2012 11:14:06 AM Report

Ticket the car, of course.
jimr 10/31/2012 12:38:55 PM Report

They'll ticket the car before they arrest someone for any criminal activity! Less paper work and more money for them!!

If anybody thinks they can do a better job than by all means put up or shut up. I am so sick of hearing such negativity towards our city police. They do not have eyes on the corner of every street to see every little petty thing, but they do what they can with what they have. Do you honestly expect them to catch every speeder, every robbery suspect, or every single hooker. Our city police need support, not "put me downs". If you've got issues, do something about it instead of playing high school games and bashing them on this site!

I agree the C/P do as much as they can and can't have eyes everywhere-however civilians "doing something about" could and would lead to chaos and charges for the ones attempting to "do something about it"
We however could have "eyes" in a lot more places including parking lots by installing more cameras everywhere and having them manned by volunteers whom would like to be part of the "clean-up"
Crime rate skyrocketted since March 1st coincidentally the same time the Government started the Oxycontin issue.

People arent allowed to do anything about it anymore clown. If we do something "vigilante" about it then the police come after us. Too much criminal rights nowadays. Back in the day if you caught a theif a couple of the boys in the neighbourhood could give em a good whoopin and fix the problem. Now if you did that he criminal would get off and the boys would get charged with assault. Its a joke. Wtf you expect people to do nowadays. Heres an idea...have the police patrol EVERYWHERE not just down main streets. I used to live in the p-patch and the only time i EVER seen a police car is when someone called one for noise complaints. Also i would support the use of dummy cars that theives get into to drive away and then the doors lock and motor shuts off so police can nab them. There has got to be better ways then what they have been doing so ya i as well as everyone else can say what we'd like about them because dont tell me its my fault for leaving stuff in my car. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.....that excuse only works for so long and i know theyve been using that excuse since like he 80's if not longer. Shove off clown you dont like it dont read it.
Jchevs 10/31/2012 3:22:44 PM Report

When I say do something about it, I don't mean literally get up and pound the crap out of someone you see looking suspicious. I mean don't do things like leaving expensive items in your vehicles, or even in gym lockers. If your level of stupidity is high enough where you would leave something valuable and expensive in a criminals way, then you are partially to blame. The police unfortunately cannot teach common sense. You want crime levels to go down, try attending a few city meetings, try writing a couple of emails, try actually paying attention and actually phoning in signs of trouble instead of saying "well I'm not getting involved because it's not my business"! If we want answers and/or results, we need to come together as a community and fix it, not belittle people for trying to come up with helpful ideas.

When the punks make a decision to do bad things, they first ponder the consequences of being caught. Need I say more?
hitch 10/31/2012 4:13:19 PM Report

Places like pawn shops and moneymart(take gold)---need to have better vigilence and screening---i know pawn shops do their best--but a lot of their gold gets melted down also--some items just 'may' slip through...,ot just gold but other items as well. Those travelling buyers of gold that come to town shouldn't be allowed either--as that's where the dealers bring their pounds of gold items.
