Some power outages reported away from city

Tuesday, October 30, 2012   by: SooToday.com Staff

There have been no PUC Services reports of power outages in the city so far today.

However, some outlying areas haven't been as fortunate.

Power was lost this morning in Thessalon for about two hours starting around 9:15 a.m.

There were also some outages - since rectified - reported in the Bruce Mines and Iron Bridge areas.

On the Michigan side, Cloverland Electric says it is dealing with outages affecting 650 customers in Naubinway, Engadine, Trout Lake, Curtis, Germfask, Eckerman, Strongs and McMillan.

The disruptions have been caused by wind-related downed lines and trees on lines.

Clovertland reminds people to stay clear of downed lines and to call 1-800-562-4953 to report an outage or other service related emergencies.

If the power companies would just use a little of their enormous profits to keep the trees cut along their right of way, they would not have these outages and service disruptions to their customers. They seem to take the same risk management courses as other manufacturers that it costs less to fix the problem than to prevent it. Maybe, prehaps, one day, they will come to realise it is the customer who pays their wages.
