NEWS RELEASE
SAULT STE. MARIE FIRE SERVICES
*************************
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services (SSMFS) were relatively busy on the weekend responding to 20 incidents, one of which could have been potentially serious.
During the late afternoon of October 26, 2012, SSMFS responded to the 100 block of Hocking Avenue for an unattended pot on a stove.
Fortunately, the owner of the home was alerted by a smoke alarm sounding in his basement apartment.
There was no fire damage to the apartment.
SSMFS used smoke ejectors to remove the accumulated smoke.
SSMFS would like to remind everyone to never leave cooking unattended and also to test your smoke alarms weekly.
Smoke alarms save lives!

T-pot 10/29/2012 2:54:14 PM ReportApparently, from what I hear, common sense saves lives as well.
Hatch 10/29/2012 2:56:46 PM ReportYour right T-Pot but with common sense applied, it leaves little to blame elsewhere.
Sam C 10/29/2012 3:02:20 PM Reportof course, you two NEVER step out of the kitchen when you have something on the stove, right?
SuzyyQ 10/29/2012 4:59:47 PM ReportSam C., tell that to an ex-tenant of mine...a city constable who was cooking and chatting on the phone but not watching the stove. A kitchen fire resulted and this guy (who earned a 6 figure salary!!!) expected ME to pay for the painting. He's got a lot of balls.
