Marshall needs your help
Friday, October 26, 2012 by: SooToday.com Staff
A Sault Ste. Marie high school student named Marshall Melcher called SooToday.com today with a desperate request.
His orange Supercycle Intruder was taken from behind his home on Friday evening.
Melcher says his buspass is about to run out and he needs the bike to get to school and other places he has to go.
He's been riding it almost daily all summer after buying it in the spring.
Folks can recognize his bike by the missing rear handbrakes and the different treads on the steel alloy peddles.
He'd like anyone who sees it to report it to the police.
Without that bike, Melcher's life is going to be very difficult for the next while.
Shown is a bike very much like Melcher's but not his bike.

Blazzinn 10/26/2012 2:43:04 AM ReportIts a super cycle.. Sucks it got stolen but there are bikes that are worth 10x this getting stolen all the time in the sault but you never see any stories for those.
allieishere 10/26/2012 3:00:34 AM Reporttrue enough, but this guy is just asking for some help...nothing wrong with that.
Boonski2 10/26/2012 4:01:25 AM ReportThis is from Marshall:
"the sets of pegs have different treads not the pedals they're 2 different sets of pegs"
Old Man Winter 10/26/2012 8:15:00 AM ReportDon't want to burst your bubble but usually stolen bike are painted. It's gonna be very hard to find it. In 2005, my son's bike got stolen it was a GT BMX Bump. It was worth about 400.00, I call and saw the cops and told them the name of the theft & show them where he lives...At the time the kid was 12 years old, they never look for him althought they knew where he was residing. They told me at the time that they need the bike as proof that it was stolen....If I had the bike in my possession I wouldn't have call the cops.....go figure
Wheels17 10/26/2012 9:35:19 AM ReportThat is absolutely terrible. People don't have any respect for people's property anymore. The police need to be more strict on people that steal things because if they aren't, they are bound to do it again. I hope someone has a heart and a soul to return the bike back to him.
Norm 10/26/2012 11:14:09 AM ReportWhat do we expect, armed robbery, and some murderers, receive light sentences. The bike thief, if they find him, her, will likely have to deliver Sault This Week for a couple months. Whatever!
thesharr 10/26/2012 1:20:09 PM ReportIt would be nice to hook up 120 volts to a bike and leave it outside unlocked, with a video cam on it to watch the sucker fry a bit.
thesharr 10/26/2012 1:21:50 PM ReportSorry, don't forget to remove the rubber hand grips for better effect.
thesharr 10/26/2012 1:27:54 PM ReportIf your stuck for a bike Mike,I got one for you,it's not a bmx but it will get you back and forth to school. If you want it it's your for free, excellent shape,it a raleigh rock 20" wheels.
thesharr 10/26/2012 1:30:14 PM ReportI'm sorry for calling you Mike,Marshall your welcome to the bike,I'll even deliver it to you,let me know.
Bad Dawg 10/26/2012 1:57:44 PM Reportthesharr.... good for you for "sticking it to" those who make comments about people not being nice.... there nice people and you are one of them..... pats on back "good human" heehhee
browl 10/26/2012 2:07:01 PM ReportIts awesome that there arevsuch awesome people out there willing to help someone when they are down n out... Take the free bike marshall people like that are too few and far between
thesharr 10/26/2012 3:46:32 PM ReportIf we all look deep inside,we all have a nice side,we just don't like to hear of people taking advantage of other peoples hard working prosperity, you know what I mean,p.u.c,heating,car insurance, gas prices, property tax, hst, home invassions, breakin enters, elderly abuse, domestic assults, bullying, ,drug dealers, and so on.
Linkeed 10/26/2012 5:46:59 PM ReportAlways engrave your name somewhere onto the bike (preferably very small; but also on a component that won't fall off, like the body). This way, if it's stolen, you can prove that it is yours. I do this to all of my sizeable valuables. In addition, never leave your bike outside if you can avoid it; not even with a lock.
Sorry to hear.
Boonski2 10/27/2012 6:47:19 PM ReportThesharr Marshall has asked e to give you his email to email him about the bike: marshallmelc@hotmail.com
