“I want to thank the Celebrate 100! Management Committee for providing this important recognition,” says the mayor. “These businesses represent the founding industries of our community along with the entrepreneurial spirit of small and medium sized businesses; a true representation of today’s thriving business community.”
On Thursday October 18, during the 123rd Annual Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, these businesses were presented Certificates of Recognition, from Mayor Debbie Amaroso and Celebrate 100! co-chairs, Councillors Terry Sheehan and Susan Myers.
Councillor Sheehan, Celebrate 100! liaison chair with the SSMEDC, noted the contribution of SSMEDC staff in researching the list of businesses.
“Based upon the information available to us, we believe these are the businesses that have been in operation continuously, for 100 years or longer,” states Sheehan. “If we have missed any, please advise the City Clerk’s office and we will plan a suitable recognition at a future meeting of City Council.”
