A friendly reminder from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service

Friday, October 19, 2012   by: SooToday.com Staff

CITY POLICE

NEWS RELEASE

****************************
Reminder of winter parking restrictions

With winter coming, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that starting on November 1 there will be no parking on any city street between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.

Sault Ste. Marie City by-law 77-200 is in effect each year from November 1 through March 31.

This parking restriction aids our city staff in removing snow from our streets.

Any vehicles found in contravention of the by-law may be subject to a fine in the amount of $15 or, removal of the vehicle from the area (towing) if it is impeding the removal of snow.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will continue to work with the public to ensure the streets remain safe and clear in the upcoming winter months.

Yes, they will fine you even if there is no snow and there is only one sign of this by-law on the edge of the city. I found out the hard way.

lets be honest the police in this city are too lazy and wont do this. There are not enough police out to catch this supposed law of no cell phones while driving and being person who walks a lot i almost get hit by drivers who are texting while attempting to turn on a green when the light says pedestrians are to walk. so iu highly doubt they will "crack down" on parking on side streets.

You never know, I don't think a police officer would drive down the streets ticketing every car they see, unless their quota wasn't full and were running out of time. Otherwise yeah, I'd assume they'd only ticket if someone complained.

ROFL, They will be on you like White on Rice, Like a Fat kid on cake. Free money for the city, who employs them. Of course they will ticket everything they can. I know, I have received a few. I even got one while i was going to clear the snow from my driveway, also got a few when there was no snow at all on the ground and the temperature was in the low teens. Brutal. :Op
