Gates 10/17/2012 5:57:03 PM ReportOur justice system frustrates me. In particular, the young offenders act. All these so called young offenders commit crime knowing darn well they will only get a slap on the hand. I always believed that the young offenders act should be abolished. If the person, regardless of their age commits a crime of any calibre, their names need to be made public and they need to pay the price of the crime. If you're old enough to commit the crime, you're old enough to serve the time. While on the subject of names, all offenders names should be made public. I get the discretion in abuse cases but protect the victim and not the criminal. We have the right to know the names of all offenders and criminals. It only helps protect us from them.
Working Man 10/17/2012 6:03:29 PM ReportThat boy had courage!
Way to go!
DOMAR 10/17/2012 9:02:32 PM ReportReal nice comment WORKING MAN. Takes so much courage to commit a crime and knowing your only going to get a slap on the hand!! Only a loser would do a stupid crime like that and a even stupider person would type a comment like the one you typed. Bet if he stole your vehicle you would have a different comment to post. Sorry I forgot losers don't own vehicles!!!
rizzo 10/17/2012 10:30:15 PM ReportI'm pretty sure (working man) was being sarcastic and what gets me on here is people saying that young offenders names should be released so the public can be protected explain to me how in gods name will some young offenders name going to protect YOU.... You don't have a clue what the person looks like or does or even thinks, so how is that going to protect you are you going to assume every 17 year old is a criminal to me it sounds like people have nothi g else better to do with there time then to worry about some dumb criminal Really move on with your life
Zarm27 10/17/2012 10:57:30 PM ReportAlso, what he probably failed to think about is that despite being 17, he's only a year from being 18. So, yeah 1 year juvenile, then progress to the next level like much of your videogame characters. Next time, play less grand theft auto, and stick to guitar hero or something.
frauleinbroomhilda 10/18/2012 1:06:36 AM ReportChange our laws CANADA!!!! Soon all young offenders will get away with murder!! The land of the Free!!!!!!!! Not good! We need to learn from places like Cuba!
frauleinbroomhilda 10/18/2012 1:15:04 AM ReportWhat a friggin' joke! Send them to Tim Hortons to bake cookies for punishment! Car jacking? We need the publics help? Hard to catch a thief when your pulling into the donut shop!!!! Hello?
DJC 10/18/2012 5:01:50 AM ReportThe Young Offenders Act won't get changed. Here's why:
What are most MP's?.......lawyers!
What are judges?.....lawyers!
Who makes money from defending these kids?.....lawyers!
Who makes more money from these punks when they re-offend?......lawyers!
Why publish their names?....because there is a little amount of hope that it may embarrass them. Better still, neighbours can identify them and be on the look out for them.
bluesslinger 10/18/2012 8:13:19 AM ReportYou don't need to be a young offender to get away with murder in this country - thank you lefties.
sinikka 10/18/2012 8:14:14 AM ReportRizzo it seems that you have a soft spot for these so called young offenders . Could it be that it hits too close to home. I agree that the names of these criminals be made public. And i am definitely for changing the young offenders act. At 17 this little nuisance should be doing some heavy time. Who do you think pays for their deeds. The law abiding public pays dearly, so if i am going to pay i have no problem with giving this guy some hard time. Punishment first then we can think about rehabilitation.
slims 10/18/2012 9:15:09 AM ReportWhat's frustrating is working with youth in trouble with the law. Last week a youth stole a vehicle and was released approximately three days later. After coming into contact with staff the same day of his release the youth laughed about the crime and had absolutely no remorse. This sickens me and something needs to be done about the crimes that are committed.
Wheels17 10/18/2012 9:44:06 AM ReportOur justice system is just a really bad joke. We need to be harder on people that decide to make stupid decisions like this. Let's imagine what would have happened if this person had gotten into an accident in the process of stealing these vehicles. Would he have to pay for the damages and loss these dealerships received because of his stupidity?
Nimrod 10/18/2012 10:24:59 AM ReportSeventeen years old and he already a professional thief!Young offender my ass!!!!
frnlak 10/18/2012 11:03:20 AM ReportGive him a break. This kid is lust practicing to be a politician. If he keeps on going like this, this fine young man may grow up to be the leader of the provincial Liberal Party of Ontario or even Prime Minister of Canada.
Working Man 10/18/2012 12:30:42 PM ReportDomar,
Get a sense of humor. It is called 'sarcasm'.
Obviously his behavior was stupid that night. It is even stupider behavior to make a remark as you did to my comment! And only a mentally disabled person would assume that I don't have a vehicle. You ignorant ****!!
AAP 10/18/2012 1:02:42 PM ReportWorking Man
Sarcasm is one of the most difficult things to convey with the written word. It is all too often taken literally which is usually the exact opposite of what is meant.
N1T5 101 10/18/2012 2:28:40 PM ReportWow for one you canty just change laws and for everyone saying get rid of the young offenders act its already bin changed its called the YCJA and it took a long time for that to happen and no you don't get a slap on the wrist and yes your crimes follow you when your an adult I know from experience . So keep crying citizens of sault ste misery haha
thesharr 10/18/2012 2:39:18 PM ReportThese kids play too much Grand Theft Auto and don't know the diffence between reality and fantasy. If you do the crime, adult or not you do the time, age should have nothing to do with it.They should have a HALL OF SHAME for these criminals and publish all names so we know if it's a nieghbours kid or someone from the neighbourhood.
DOMAR 10/18/2012 3:12:53 PM ReportOh WORKING MAN whats wrong the truth hurts!! You have such a great sense of humor! I can can assure you one thing you would not be the laugh of the party.
Working Man 10/18/2012 3:33:49 PM ReportDomar,
My screen-name on here implies that I have a job. Anybody who has a job can apply for credit for a vehicle, assuming they didn't screw up their credit by making stupid financial mistakes.
That is why your comment didn't make any sense. I've had vehicles since I was 18! To speculate that 'perhaps this random person doesn't have a vehicle' is not only stupid, but completely immature and ignorant!
My comment was that this 'boy' was couragous for doing that - I didn't say it was smart or the right thing to do. In fact, it was stupid - very stupid. I didn't take it that far though. I just decided to make a sarcastic comment regarding the story. What he did didn't offend me because he got caught.
It seems by your comment that you're 'trying' to make an insult towards me. It just doesn't make any sense as I do own a vehicle. It is not uncommon for somebody to have a vehicle nowadays. Even losers have vehicles!
There is nothing wrong with 'truth hurts'. Anyway, have a better day.
DOMAR 10/18/2012 4:41:19 PM ReportOkay WORKING MAN lets have a truce. Good luck to you in all your future endeavours. Take care.
Barf breath 10/18/2012 4:57:48 PM ReportBig deal, I bet I can steal four cars.
Working Man 10/18/2012 6:34:58 PM ReportThanks Domann,
take care....
