Smith, Mr. Leonard Newton - Peacefully at Algoma Manor with his family by his side on Monday October 15, 2012.
Leonard Smith of Thessalon in his 91st year, beloved husband of Eleanor Smith (Reed) for 69 years.
Loving father of Ronald Smith (Brenda), Laura Miller (late Ted), Alda-Mae Raymond (Mike), Rhoda Goodall (Raymond), Murray Smith (Judy), Marleen Lewis (Ron) and the late Nancy Aldene.
Special Grandpa to 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Son of the late David and Jean Smith.
Dear brother of Ruth Cornfield (Vernon and the late Merlyn Weir), and the late Raymond (late Jean) and Murray (Ina and the late Marilyn).
Dear brother-in-law of the late Ronald Reed.
Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Leonard served as a Reeve of Thessalon Township, was an active member of the Church of Christ and leaves behind a legacy of community involvement and numerous buildings which stand today as a tribute to his efforts.
Friends may call at the Thessalon Church of Christ on Thursday October 18, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, October 19 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 o’clock with his nephew Don Smith officiating.
Interment in Maple Ridge Cemetery.
Donations to the Parkinsons Society or Algoma Manor Charitable Foundation gratefully accepted.
