i totally agree, i save $30 on every tank of gas, and with our baby, we buy 3% milk, which is about $7 here, only $3 there, half price over the river. gotta wonder why our cows milk is so expensive.

geterdun - Do you actually think the States has food guidelines/inspections as strict as Canada does? If you do, you are wrong. Enjoy your low grade/chemical pumped meat and cheese from the US

Tank Girl...

Yes, so strict in fact the Americans had to tell us the XL beef was tainted. I can only guess this is a way for price increases to be fed to us in a palatable way, so we shall not get all bitter and twisted when hamburger hits $20 a lb or 40 odd bucks a kilo. That will make all those who critize the US shopper very happy..
geterdun 10/13/2012 6:17:34 PM Report

Hey tank girl did you get that the yanks were the ones who told Canada about the e coli it took the gov of Canada over 21 days to tell us.That should answer your guestion about the goverment caring about you and the others in this country no???
Oh yea and here is the point. I saved today 35 dollars in gas it cost 135 bucks to fill my truck and fill a 5 gallon canister also a gallon of milk guess what the tax was 11 dollars..... LOL...That would have cost me probably over 200 dollars just for gas over here ...Oh and im not done there I went for supper at apple bees 25 dollars for two people and then over to wally mart and another 75 bucks in stuff and then two cases a beer on the way home.....the way I see it Canada and Ontario business just lost over 300 dollars thanks to their rediculous taxes and you no what ......I coudnt give a rats behind about it to bad so sad.....As a matter of fact were planning our next $5,000 vacation over there.....seeing that the Ontario gov. is planning on closing the parks over here??? yea Ontario is open for business but not mine.... LOL.... I dont mind cashing in my crappy canadian money for green backs and actually getting a bucks worths for a buck......
Hell I cant even remember the last time I spent 100 dollars in this rip off put that in your pipe and smoke it Tank girl and dont think Im the only one doing this just go count the cars going over the bridge making the americans rich just sayin to bad so sad....The liberals and the Conservatives obviously dont care about this as their legislation and rules reflect their positions...Canada and Ontario are only open for business if you are a communist country wanting to buy all our resources......

Hey geterdun,
Nice job of showing your community spirit there. Good to see how much you care about your neighbours who are trying to make an honest living in the retail industry. Well done.
Zarm27 10/13/2012 8:56:11 PM Report

k, people are retarded, first off the item in question is below par to begin with, people do NOT need to buy ginger organic or otherwise in a large quantity to save a buck. Personally I buy ginger whenever I plan to have a dish that requires ginger, it's fresh, costs next to nothing anyways. People that're too cheap to buy ginger to add into their dishes will buy ground ginger in a jar. buying organic is a fad, and the company has proven their lack of quality control. Big fan of ginger, just who cares what's on sale, or organic etc, it's friggin ginger people. Want a contamination scare in regards to foods, just think of all the people in town handling your foods too lazy to wash their hands. Btw, if you cook with ginger you're awesome lol.

Oh, and for anyone to bring another countries economy into the subject, spending your taxes elsewhere is a contradictory action, since these same people post on this site complaining about PUC, the Government, or the roads or w/e the f*ck else is wrong here, yet they still blast whenever possible despite their own actions. So s*ck the proverbial d*ck and just bite your tongue instead of living here, or gtfo.

THIS is the BEST headline you've ever done. Kudos!

mirrorman: its not about community spirit my friend its simple economics .If I can get double for my dollar in the states why wouldnt I and that goes for endless others for that matter.....I along with many other Canadians would love to spend our money in Canada believe me, but the goverments have made it so we are forced to cross over there for better deals...Trust me we Canadians have made many americans very very Rich........Again thanks to our own goverment forcing us to look for the best deal were ever it might be ......You can force a horse to water but you cant make it drink it.....In other words Goverments can tax us to death but that doesnt mean I have to spend my money in that country even know I am from that country......

Its simple economics lower the taxes and the econmoy will prosper...Its that simple......Canadians are way way over TAXED!!!!!!!!!!
sinikka 10/14/2012 9:37:39 AM Report

yes geterdun canadians have made americans very rich. Perhaps that is why their economy is in total shambles. Your words are contradictory. Shop in the u.s. then complain about right wing politics. You complain about the city, the province, the country, yet you remain here. Next time you speak about the homeless or unemployed smile because you and your actions are the cause.
mirrorman 10/14/2012 10:18:50 AM Report

I will be the first to agree with you that taxes are high in Canada. Just ask my wife how grumpy I get filling out an income tax form. However, I don't think that taking your dollars across the bridge is the answer. Sure everybody likes a deal, but putting your neighbours into a situation where they need welfare or EI assistance will only make taxes increase to support them. I don't know if you have lived in any other areas of the country, but I can tell you that the cost of living in Sault Ste. Marie is very reasonable compared to other places. So no, the system isn't perfect, but no government system is. If we expect the services that the city/province/federal governments provide, then we had better be prepared to pay for them, because any time they try to cut something to reduce expenses, there is a public outcry and backlash about it. Somebody is going to be affected. You can't please everybody.
geterdun 10/15/2012 11:35:59 AM Report

yes sinika: me and hundreds of others from this city who go over the bridge every day..LOL....we are the reason for homelessness,unemployment,etc.etc..LOL please... like I said just go stand at the bridge and count the cars going over with Canadian plates....that should answer your question.....We are being forced by the Goverments of the day to do all lands on their shoulders, based on their piss poor decisions for our province and country.....
Its to bad but hey what do they think we will do?? after all Harpo and the conservatives just raised the amount that i can bring back from the USA,,thanks..... that really helped Canadians didnt it???
