Beej 10/12/2012 1:03:14 PM ReportSomeone needs to investigate why PUC didn't spend the millions of wasted dollars on new infrastructure instead of squandering it on a new unneeded building.
geterdun 10/12/2012 1:30:49 PM ReportCause of interruption unknown really?????: how about poor infastructor, inability to properly MANAGE a public service, wasted money on a new building to house over paid managers......oh yea and lets not forget inability of city managers to properly run a public business..........we may as well go buy generators to run our homes its a lot more reliable than this company.....to bad there is no competition in this market because these ding dongs would be out of business in a heart beat.......PUC = big joke........
SuzyyQ 10/12/2012 1:36:13 PM ReportI encourage anyone that wants answers about these power outages, to contact the CEO (or yet to be named CEO), Dominic Parrella.
Nanax5 10/12/2012 2:24:33 PM ReportYeh, and what will Parella do? Beside he don't take over until Feb. 2013.............lots of power outages to come yet.
chrispoitras86 10/12/2012 2:38:01 PM ReportIt's going to be a cold winter for most of us if this keeps up.
SuzyyQ 10/12/2012 3:01:39 PM ReportDominic Parrella may not be able to explain the reason for this chronic problem with power outages, but still, customers who feel they need to complain should be contacting him for their complaints. That's part of his job, to deal with complaints, and maybe, if he gets a lot of complaints, then maybe, just maybe, he will step up and resolve this issue. Point is, there has to be accountability there, at the PUC. Way too many power outages.
Beej 10/12/2012 3:24:53 PM ReportYes go ahead and complain, he'll address the problem the same as the one with the "new improved" water, he'll tell you to wait a year and see if it gets better.
BettyW 10/12/2012 3:51:51 PM ReportIt is now 3.46 PM and we just had the 5th power outage in the last four days. Granted 2 of them were only a few minutes but the rest were long. I live in Bayview and it is getting ridiculous.
I agree it is stupid to spend millions on a new building and let the things that service the city's electricity, that we are charged for, fall apart.
Stevie-E 10/12/2012 4:20:41 PM ReportAll of those people griping about new buildings, CEO's etc. need to have a seat.
Listen, if the power goes out to a service area, they are not able to charge kW since there is no power draw and you're not being charged. For business owners, it does cause an issue with certain things relying on continuous power but that's why UPS' were invented
Unplanned outages are terrible for a utility company at the generation, transmission and distribution levels!
speed7 10/12/2012 4:35:59 PM ReportBey Hey in Mr Parella's opinion. Its all in our heads! And this guy gets paid how much salary?
TFinn 10/12/2012 4:59:37 PM ReportThis city has the more power outages than any other places that I'm aware of....but hey ....lol ...I guess all those outages will diappear with the new multi-million dollar building they're building ...right ...??
ThinkAgain 10/12/2012 6:12:16 PM ReportIf they would spend the money and upgrade our poor infrastructure, a lot of this wouldn't happen. (STOP giving it away to Sault College & Algoma University)
I'm tired of trying to reset my stove & microwave clock.
teets 10/12/2012 6:18:02 PM ReportEverytime it "farts" in the west end the power flickers or goes out !!! Absolutely frustrating !!!
mallet 10/12/2012 7:31:09 PM Report Whoa People...
If you do not get answers from the PUC then go to the next level, and I don't mean the clowns at city hall. The OEB has a web site and a complaints form for people to file if they feel the service is not up to standard.. You all got computers and it does not take that long to fill out the form and then when the OEB starts asking questions the PUC will start to find the answers for you... I know ... it worked for me with GLP/Algoma Power when we had a whole lot of outages one year..
ruptured spleen 10/12/2012 11:39:56 PM ReportI have lived all over this province and in some very small northern towns...I have never had as many power outages as here in SSM...for what we pay it is shameful.
