ENVIRONMENT CANADA

*****************************
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR WAWA - WHITE RIVER - PUKASKWA - SAULT STE. MARIE - SUPERIOR EAST - CHAPLEAU - GOGAMA - KIRKLAND LAKE - NEW LISKEARD - TEMAGAMI.

FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON TODAY.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT ENDED FOR NIPIGON - MARATHON - SUPERIOR NORTH.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK FROM LAKE SUPERIOR THROUGH NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO TODAY.

SNOW HAS OVERSPREAD ALL REGIONS IN THE VICINITY OF LAKE SUPERIOR AND EAST INTO THE CHAPLEAU REGION.

IT IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE QUEBEC BORDER EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

A GENERAL SNOWFALL OF 2 TO 5 CM IS AFFECTING MANY AREAS WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 5 TO 8 CM POSSIBLE IN A SWATH FROM EAST OF AGAWA BAY TO THE TIMISKAMING AREA.

OVER SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE REGIONS, THE SNOW WILL LIKELY CHANGE TO A FEW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON, REDUCING TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS.

TRAVELLERS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION DUE TO LOW VISIBILITIES COMBINED WITH ACCUMULATING SNOW ON ROADS.

THE BACK EDGE OF THE SNOW IS THROUGH THE WAWA TO SAULT STE MARIE REGIONS AND IT WILL END THIS AFTERNOON FOR AREAS FARTHER EAST.

PLEASE MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND WARNINGS FROM ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT WWW.WEATHEROFFICE.GC.CA.
