Wheels17 10/10/2012 5:57:43 PM ReportSick, sick man. What would possess him to do something so terrible like that?
celest5 10/10/2012 9:48:22 PM ReportYes this man is sick, this girl may have psychological problems which may lead to drug and alchol addictions, or they sometimes become promiscuous, they shoud be compensated because this could effect them for years.
Smurf 10/10/2012 10:34:24 PM ReportHow sweet of him to turn himself in. Now hang him!
celest5 10/11/2012 5:34:03 AM ReportHanging him would be quick, my first thought was shooting him but that would mean I would have mercy for him, I say have a public stoning. God I think so mean, but this has been happening fo years and years.
Dixiepup 10/11/2012 9:37:50 AM ReportToday , October 11th is international day of the girl. It is a day set aside to promote awareness of the plight of girls in the world who do not have it as well as those of us who are lucky enough to live in this country. It is also set aside to make the public more aware of violence against women, and to educate all about the freedom from abuse, access to health care, nutrition, and education.
Now here is the reality: society at large is still in the dark ages, especially the young women of today.
I am a woman of the 70s, an advocate for women’s rights and freedom from abuse and inequality in the workplace and the world. I am not a hard nose feminist; I stayed home to raise my kids until they went to school all day, and then returned to work for economic reasons that plagued Sault Ste. Marie in the 90’s. I think that sometimes the world was a better place when roles were more defined, but always said women should do what made them happy and successful and that we should get the respect due any human being on the planet.
I was lucky enough to have a husband who had respect for me and he thought that as a stay at home mom, I had the hardest job in the world. He never made me feel that I was less a person for not working outside home.
It’s too bad that the best selling books “Shades of Grey” trilogy has become a piece of literature ..(Debatable) that some women think is the best thing they ever read about relationships. My generation worked hard at getting respect, and here is a book about how a young woman is dominated and abused (yes abused) by her so called great love, and she is happy with it and even signs a contract to agree to it.
So I wouldn’t be called a prude when I expressed my thoughts about this, I read the first book. When I expressed how I felt, young women I talked to said “ You have to understand his side, he had abusive upbringing, and that’s why he is like he is” , a mantra of abusers everywhere to make themselves the victims in violence against women.
We are becoming a society of anything goes, and the further we go, the more warped we become and the more we need to be satisfied. Love is out the door, respect is not given or received, abuse is rampant, and books like this only promote the idea it is ok as long as we are consenting adults.
As long as we women in the privileged countries accept abuse and disrespect as normal, and advocate books that promotes abuse and justifies the abuser by making excuses for his behaviour, we are doomed as women to endure violence against women for a long time to come.
freedom1 10/11/2012 10:44:31 AM Reportthey should post his name so other people can stay away from him. If people are worried that it will give away who the victim is don't put that it was against his step daughter just his name and his charges not who it was against that way the victim can still remain anonymous and everyone will know who this guy is to stay away from.
speed7 10/11/2012 1:15:12 PM ReportThere are alot of these "sex rats" all over. Not just in this case. Disgusting and Horrid. There are alot of men of all ages who do that to young girls. Touching them inappropriately. They need to keep their sexual preying tendancies and their hands to themselves. One man who frequents our church was charged not long ago. I hope he doesnt show up again. Scince its only his first offense and he will get off with nothing.
Working Man 10/11/2012 4:32:14 PM ReportWhy was my comment deleted exactly?
All I said was, 'too bad he doesn't play for the hounds'. I didn't say anything about 'hanging him' or 'stoning him to death' yet my comment gets removed. lol
The purpose of my post was to show how people look at situations like this in an entirely different way when they don't play for a local sports team. If it was disclosed that he used to play for the hounds, most people's viewpoint of this situation would be entirely different. They would most likely view him as the victim.
riverman 10/11/2012 6:13:56 PM Report@ Freedom:
Alleged. Not convicted. If he is found guilty you will learn his name.
freedom1 10/12/2012 8:38:48 AM Report@riverman
shouldn't it be the same for all crimes though? If someone gets caught for impaired driving they show their name right away when it is alleged they don't wait till they are convicted.
