47-year old male charged with assault
A 47 year old will appear in WASH (Weekend and Stat Holiday) court this morning charged with 2 counts of assault after it is alleged he assaulted his partner by pushing her face several times. It is also alleged he grabbed the victim’s daughter by the throat when she tried to intervene.
38-year old charged with breach of probation
A 38 year female will appear in WASH (Weekend and Stat Holiday) court this morning charged with 2 counts of breach of probation. Officers were called to a residence for an intoxicated female to be removed and arrested the accused who was on conditions of a probation order not to harass the complainant and keep the peace.

Impaired Drivers ALWAYS have there names released...why the double standard..??..and before anyone reads me the riot act about "protecting the victim bs"...i'm referring to the 38yr olds case...although....domestic or not..ALL names should be released or do not release anyones names unless they are CONVICTED of the crime...

celest5 10/8/2012 2:00:21 PM ReportThis man has 2 counts of assault, he shoudn`t just get an anger management class and probation, he should be kepted in jail until his court date, also when convicted he shouldn`t be allowed to leave jail for work and just spend the weekend there, who in the hell came up with idea anyway, make it tougher for these guys. I`m mean today, you know one hit or fall the wrong way and they could be facing a murder charge.

Or there are family issues that something like this would make HER life even more difficult!!! She was just assaulted by the "man" she loves(ed), she does not need the added stress of every person in this gossiping city to be talking about it and whispering every time she walks by. Watch Judge Judy of you need to put a face to a story HOCKEYJERK, and for once think of how traumatic an event like this when your involved could be!

And hockeyguy, they forgot to call you on the difference between "their" and "there" the word "their" denotes possession and " there" generally refers to a place but has several other meanings but to simplify it for you there never shows possession.
I do agree that if they want to publish peoples names when they are charged, they should be prepared to follow up with another story if they are not found guilty.
And to celest5, there are cases when time served on weekends is justifiable. When people who are fully employed make poor choices and end up in jail, it is not always best for society to have them lose their jobs. When they get released and have no job, and no address they become an even bigger burden on society and may then reoffend. We should also consider that some of these people are paying child support and losing their jobs can create undue hardship on their ex-spouse and children.... I'm not saying that this is one of those cases, but jail isn't always about punishment, it serves other purposes.
mirrorman 10/8/2012 8:36:48 PM ReportAnybody can be accused of a crime, doesn't mean they are guilty and did it. Printing the names of accused people before they are found guilty by a court is in pretty poor taste. Nothing like wrecking a reputation with no evidence that it should (or deserves to) be wrecked.
Now that we have got that out of the way, I have no bones about printing the names of convicted scumbags that prey on kids and spouses, and as for locking them up for the weekend, no, they should be made infertile (use your imagination on how that could be done).

rockbottom 10/8/2012 10:08:49 PM ReportMany different opinions, on whether to publish or not to publish the names, but because we live in such a small city, eventually we hear who these people are anyway's, which is not a bad thing, because how many of us, would want their child to stay or get into a relationship with any of these people, especially if they never change their way's.
sweetnsexy69er 10/9/2012 8:25:25 AM ReportThey keep the names out cus they are protecting the victom I know this cus I am a victom of 15 yrs of sever physicle and mental abuse from my ex husband..I am in the middle of criminal court..yes I finaly turned to the police..yes I tried to call the police before but he would only jump on top of me with his hands around my neck threatening to kill me..yes I tried to leave but he found me like he always had and dragged me back home..yes after 16 yrs I finnaly found a way out and yes he tried very hard to bring me back but I fought back..yes he is trying to take everything from me..using my kids against me..I have a long very hard road ahead...Just cus the man ends up not being charged does not mean he is innocent...just means the evidence was not strong enough..I know my ex husband might get off cus even tho I have witnesses they cannot use them cus most of the abuse happened when we lived out west and they cannot bring that here and only evidence I have here is my word and the 1 person I have confided into..if he gets off does that mean hes innocent HELL NO just means the evidence was not strong enough

blackspruce 10/9/2012 5:36:50 PM ReportAs a father having his daughter going through this abuse from the hands of a lousy little piece of trash I have a lot of pity for the young women out there and very little respect for our judicial system. Get tough if they want to fight make them join the army who cares if a scum bag women beater gets killed over seas. And to you guys that think you have the right to beat your girls remember not all fathers out there forgive or forget...
