geterdun 10/6/2012 1:01:04 PM ReportCurfew sounding like a good idea now people??????? I say take them home and charge the parents $200 for each time they are found outside after 9 and $500 for each time they are found drunk ...... As well charge the little twirps and make them pay it back later in life with interest once they get a job........
Bad Dawg 10/6/2012 1:34:01 PM ReportI agree curfews are good.... there is all kinds of litter in our city..... why is there no work programs for Y.O.'s.... me and a couple buddies would keep them in check while picking up trash and cig butts. why should we pay responsible students to do those jobs when they could be done better and for less money (I guess that makes too much sense for our gov't)
babootzoo 10/6/2012 9:42:33 PM ReportThat's a great idea! About 30 years ago Soo Michigan used to have one, It sounded like a Air raid siren but did the trick to get the trouble makers in the house. And I agree if the kids aren't in at the time of curfew, the Parents should have to pay the fine! 500 dollars would be a good start and the money could go to a charity. See that's the problem these days! Too many people watch these Dr. Phil and Oprah shows that say don't give your child a kick in the ass when they need one, And for the most part I agree, BUT some kids just don't get it when their put in Timeout. To the people that Beat their child shame on you, but to folks out there that get their child's attention by a slap to the ass. Good for you! You can't beat them, but you can get their attension and that's the problem all cause some people went to far they had to put the cuffs on it! I think if your not at the legal age to drink you got no business roaming the streets! 18 and under 10 pm in the house!!!!
soogurl24 10/7/2012 12:24:09 AM ReportA fine wouldnt be fair for the parents hoodlums who sneak out once the parents are in bed.
moem 10/7/2012 9:04:43 AM ReportFining parents is stupid, some parents have to work at night, and yes kids sneak out. You can't hit children, not a smack on the ass, not a punch in the face none of it is acceptable, abuse against children is more about the psychological damage not the physical and it doesn't matter where you hit them, all they will feel is the hit and the feelings that come with it. And as for " if they are not old enough to drink" hey have you noticed that the majority of nonsense happening in the city is by people old enough to drink??? Alcohol is a dangerous substance that destroys lives, yet society thinks it's okay, and the govt makes a fortune off of it!! The govt controls and profits from 3 of the most addictive and damaging things...cigarettes, alcohol and gambling!!! Drinking is so socially acceptable yet smokers are being treated as lepers. The costs on health care a huge for either substance but the cost on society is far greater for alcohol!! And while we are talking about damaging substances, not a single person has died from an overdose of weed, have you ever seen a police beat where the person smoked weed and then went on a rampage and beat his wife or kids?? Nope!!! Yet our govt won't legalize it, and police waste their time going after pot smokers, I bet if the govt could figure the best way to tax and regulate weed it would be legal tomorrow!!! I don't smoke weed, but I do have a few close friends that do and I think it's their choice, alcohol is far more dangerous and damaging to us all....if you don't believe that then pay careful attention to police beat stories and see how many of the break INS, thefts and assaults are coupled with alcohol and how many with weed!
babootzoo 10/7/2012 8:20:25 PM ReportWow someone like's the Weed I see! Moem! You have your opinion and I have mine! Beat kids! Not! Keep them in line and show respect! Dam right! That's why you think that smoking pot is better than having a couple of pops!!! Cause u never got that slap when u needed it! Go smoke another bowl or one hitter as you pot heads would say or hell go smoke it with your kids!! Pot Leeds to other drugs too!! Stop reading books that pot heads write to as why pot should be legal! LOL gotta love the pot heads eh folks!! Puff Puff pass Moem! LOL
babootzoo 10/7/2012 8:43:37 PM ReportOh and the parents are to blame! As a parent u have the right to lay the RULES!! when they live in your house! They don't like your rules then they find a new house to go live in! That's called tough love pal! It's called being a GOOD parent that Knows right from wrong but if you think that's not the right of the parent to give direction to their kids then something is wrong .Oh to the person who said ....well what happens when they sneak out.....lock the dam door and take the keys away! See how many times they pull that off when they gotta spend the night out! TOUGH LOVE! In most cases kids turn out the way their brought up. You heard the old sayings about the apple doesn't fall far from the TREE! Totally the parents can show the right direction and the wrong direction. Hopefully as they grow as a child with good guidance they will choose the right path, but if they see mom an pops smoking the weed say! Well who knows what road they will choose! Good luck with your children and hope they have good direction. Cause I know mind kids had!
geterdun 10/8/2012 10:40:26 AM ReportI Totally agree the parents are responsible for their kids and their actions.......If you cant be responsible for them then dont have them its that simple......There are to many single parents out there who cant control their kids......Judge Judy said it best......You will get nothing but trouble being out after 12 and that goes for anyone not just kids.....these kids now a days have no respect for anything or anybody and who should we blame for this??? YOU the parents.... it is your fault and nobody elses that your kids are the way they are. Sorry for the reality check but you made your bed and laid in it, now it is time to grow up and be responsible....I say hold the parents responsible even if they work nights......Its for theirs and your own good believe me!!!!!!!!!If you dont believe me, Just read the news here everyday.....Three minors in custody????????????
