Driver flees from police - Numerous charges laid

FENWICK TWP - At approximately 1 a.m. this morning, an OPP officer patrolling westbound on Mission Road in Goulais River, Ontario, observed a vehicle heading eastbound.

The officer stopped the cruiser and activated the emergency lights to stop the white Chevrolet Cavalier car approaching his traffic stop.

The car did not slow down and drove past the officer’s location.

The officer lost sight of the car and shortly thereafter came upon a single motor vehicle collision in which the white Chevrolet Cavalier was involved.

The vehicle had rolled over in the northbound ditch.

The male driver fled on foot and was located by police a short distance from the collision scene and apprehended.

Further investigation revealed that the male had items in his possession that had just been reported stolen from a residence on Goulais Mission Road.

Nineteen-year-old Jacob, Joseph Moreau of Brundy Avenue, Timmins, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

Three counts of break and enter, and two counts of possession of stolen property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada; one count of operating a motor vehicle – no insurance, driving while under suspension, and failing to stop for police contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today in Sault Ste. Marie Provincial Court.

Legalize the stuff for gods sake and stop playing these games. Prohibition should have taught us something.
Tom_Bom 9/28/2012 7:19:41 PM Report

Prohibition just puts all that drug money into the hands of drug cartels and organized crime. If marijuana were legalized, we'd cripple organized crime and have more money to put into healthcare, addictions treatment, and law enforcement so they can go after organized crime with more resources to do so.

But a plant? I mean i know they're only doing their job. I don't fault them at all for that. I fault the laws that are currently in place.

I haven't partaken since high school but as a responsible, free thinking adult, I know that with the tax money we'd get from legalizing marijuana, we could better target organized crime by taking away their biggest cash crop, keep it out of the hands of our children by putting an age limit on it, and let responsible adults decide if they want to partake or not.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for law enforcement. Police officers have always been kind to me and at the ready to help me out when I need them. Its the law's man. Its not their fault. We can't fault the police because they're just doing their job.

I think the more we get the opinion out there that legalizing marijuana would take the money away from organized crime, the more the politicians might listen.

There is a very good reason the only graphics condemning marijuana are half the age of your average readership...

You only hear of the little guy getting busted. At the top of the organized crime ladder could be the CIA. They have been involved in drugs a very long time, Afghanistan, Golden Triangle, Iran-Contra affair, Mena Arkansas, Mexico, Panama and Venenzuela just to name a few. After 911 the USA borders were shut up tighter than a .... How did all the drugs get through? Maybe the CIA runs all the illegal drugs and just busts all the competition. Why since Canada and the USA have been in Afghanistan that opium production has been way up?
