SAULT STE. MARIE - A banner-raising ceremony to commemorate the Soo Greyhounds’ 1924 Allan Cup victory will be held at the Essar Centre on October 6, prior to the start of the Greyhound game.

Game time is 7:07 p.m.

The Allan Cup, first presented 1909, is awarded annually to the national senior amateur men’s ice hockey champions of Canada.

The 1924 Soo Greyhounds were the first Northern Ontario Hockey Association representative to win the prestigious trophy.

The Allan Cup will be on display at the Civic Centre from Monday, October 1 to Wednesday, October 3 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The trophy will also be available for viewing at the Essar Centre on October 5 and 6.
