HAVILAND TWP - Yesterday afternoon at 1:20 p.m. OPP officers were conducting seatbelt checks on Haviland Shores Drive.

A vehicle approached the spot check and as an officer spoke to the female driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on the driver’s breath.

Further investigation led to 48-year-old Joan Mitchell-Gibbs of Ley Township, Goulais River, being arrested and charged for having care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to Section 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
