Sault Ste. Marie MP Bryan Hayes has been appointed to one new House of Commons Standing Committee and leaves another.
He joins the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs and departs Fisheries and Oceans.
The first-term parliamentarian continues to serve as a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
In a news release, Hayes says in this new role he will study Veterans Affairs programs related to disability pensions, veterans allowances, pension advocacy, health care and commemorations.
These programs compensate to veterans for hardships arising from disabilities and lost economic opportunities.
Also provided are health and social services, legal assistance and recognition of the achievements and sacrifices of Canadians during periods of war and conflict.
Hayes invites constituents with questions or comments about his committee work to contact him.
“I was very happy to serve on the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans and especially proud of the work we did to protect the Great Lakes from Asian Carp, which directly impacts my constituency, " he notes.

OMGWTF 9/25/2012 7:29:37 PM ReportWTF - He did what?? Nothing that has impacted his area. Where;s the beef Bryan?
mallet 9/25/2012 7:37:24 PM ReportI would dearly love to know what they did, regarding Asian Carp. The only way they can get into the Gt Lakes area is via the Chicago sewage canal to the Mississippi, and that is in U S territory, and nothing to do with Canada except thro the Gt Lakes I J C. I voted for this guy, only because I thought the rest were less able than he, however it seems he is becoming a stranded whale like all policticians and now he is going to Veterans Affairs, like they need another lame duck to feed of them and do nothing. Jesus H ... as they say in the services .. Hurry up and wait.
Jimssm 9/25/2012 9:10:26 PM ReportGeez Bryan....thanks for all the help keeping the Asian Carp away.

It looks like Harper recognizes your true value.
speed7 9/25/2012 11:52:13 PM ReportHe is studying the loss of economic opportunities??? For veteran affairs only? This city as a whole is the poster child for lost opportunities. For Veterans, and for all people in general basically. I guess these people are bieng cut too. Common Sense? What a joke!
