Accused of sexual interference, male met alleged victim on Facebook

On September 25, 2012, City Police Detectives charged 24-year-old Allan Smythe-Lance with two counts of sexual interference.
It is alleged Smythe-Lance identified himself as an 18-year-old and also used a fictitious name.
He met the female victim (who was under the age of 16) on Facebook and commenced a relationship with her.
The victim was unaware of the accused’s real name and age.
Smythe-Lance will be appearing in bail court on September 26, 2012.
City Police would again like to remind everyone who uses a social networking medium to be very cautious about who you chat with.
When used properly it is an excellent communication tool, however, it is also the perfect medium for predators looking to take advantage of unsuspecting people.
Know your friends and delete immediately anyone you do not know!

If you don't know how, there are a ton of videos on YouTube made by kids on how to block your parents from snooping. Watch them and learn how they are hiding information from you!

While social networking is a great tool to stay in touch with family and friends, it also invites predators the opportunity to do things like this.
Educate your kids parents. Let them know about the people like this out there.

tbbs 9/26/2012 10:06:05 AM Reportand that is exactly why i wont lie about my daughter's age to get her a facebook account!! i know plenty of people that do and it's dangerous behavior. they say they check the childs account but its too easy to hide stuff and well if you're willing to lie for your child what does that say about your character? whats the message your child is getting? lmho it's reckless and stupid......
