OPP NEWS RELEASE

*************************

WHITE RIVER, ON – On Sunday September 23, 2012, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) White River Detachment were conducting stationary radar on Highway 17 in Hunt Township.

A 1988 Honda Prelude bearing an Alberta marker was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Further investigation revealed that the marker did not match the vehicle.

While speaking with the driver, OPP officers observed drug paraphernalia on the dashboard of the vehicle.

It was turned over to police by the driver and marijuana residue was found inside.

The driver, 34-year-old Dwayne Zwicker of Calgary, Alberta, was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana.

A search of the vehicle resulted in further seizure of 39 individually wrapped tin foil packages each containing approximately one  gram of marijuana.

As a result the accused was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and he is to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on November 19, 2012, to answer to this charge.

E.S.V.(estimated street value)$595.00,is there HST on that??????
Spyyder 9/24/2012 2:23:17 PM Report

Maybe the dealer should charge HST on the drugs and issue receipts, It would be another step to making it legal. Everybody wins here the user gets the drugs, the dealer gets the money and those bastards in Ottawa get their fair share as well. An official tax law is probably one of the only roadblocks to the legality of marijuana. The government needs to find a way how to make obscene amounts of money from it as they did with alcohol otherwise prohibition may still be around in Canada!!
thesharr 9/24/2012 4:44:55 PM Report

The greedy bastards need another cash cow. They're discouraging people not to smoke but won't take the smokes off the shelf, why,$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$,that's why.Soon they will realize that pot is alot less harmful, chemical wise and has medical benifits. They would unclog the courts, empty the jails. The government would reduce the deficit tremendusly. It's a win, win situation. The light will come on soon and they will look like the smartest people ever.

For "the coach".......

and in response to "thesharr" (hmmm no space? I digress)

I'm wondering if you could elaborate on exactly what is in marijuana (chemical wise of course). I also agree with you - pot smokers are definitely some of the smartest people I know. Your response would help me out tremendusly.

Thanks

When will we come together as a sensible group of adults and learn, that marijuana is not the problem. in a census sent out, more than half the Canadian population admitted to having used it in their life time. Does half of Canada deserve to go to jail?

Prohibition is the drug problem, because instead of the government selling it and taxing the butt off of it and making money, they leave it in the hands of organized crime who then profit off it. If marijuana was legalized today, organized crime would be crippled, we'd have more money to give to the police force to take them down, and society would be a lot better off.

According to the Surgeon Generals report, 0 people have ever died from a Pot overdose as it is physically impossible. It is far less harmfull than alcohol and tobacco, and science is discovering that it has anti cancer properties.

Why can't we all get together and lobby for legalization, benefit from the tax money, cripple organized crime, and stop demonizing the drug and making it into something it's not?

I haven't partaken since highschool which was years ago, but anyone with a good head on their shoulders knows that right now its easier to get pot than it is alcohol, because its readily available and organized crime doesn't put an age limit on it. If it were legalized, we could put an age limit on it, get it out of the hands of our children, and let responsible adults over the age of 19 decide if they want to partake or not.

The war on drugs will never end, but legalizing marijuana would be a huge step forward it dealing it a huge blow, and thus dealing organized crime a huge blow as well, taking away their biggest cash crop.

Thank you for your time.
