HOW SICK!!! Throw away the key on this guy! No one deserves to be beaten like that except the loser that's doing it. Stiffer laws like attempted murder would be good for this usesless piece of skin. His day's coming. Poor woman of this senseless crime and the children who witnessed. Prayers and thoughts to the victim, family and friends. :(

freedom1 9/24/2012 11:40:12 AM Report

if his name was made pubic it might be enough to stop people from doing things like this. If his name was made public it might prevent him doing this to the next woman victim, because they would know about him. For the safety of the woman and children he should not be allowed back in the house or to see them. If she lets him back in the house the children should be taken away for their own safety.
Unless this was self defense and she came at him with a knife which would be an entirely different story
Christina216 9/24/2012 11:55:10 AM Report

wobbler...why are you telling me to read this. have you ever thought that i have been there? i made that statment because i have and kept falling back into the vicious cycle for years. so dont tell me to walk a mile in your shoes when it was hard enought to walk the 10 miles in my own.
Bad Dawg 9/24/2012 12:20:52 PM Report

put him a cage with her Dad or any Dad that lost a daughter to an abuser. He would get what he deserves. I would like to know who these people are.

Why is there still not a Court Beat so we can see what charges get dropped and how little time offenders get. I would gladly go to the courthouse and get the info if Sootoday would publish it
bayers 9/24/2012 2:21:35 PM Report

This is indeed a terrible crime, there is two crimes. One is the crime commited against the women. The second crime is against our First Nation People if this involved some other society the details wouldn't have been so graphic. As a First Nation People I was hurt from the report that outlined the vicuous charges against this indivaul. Society has a way of degrading our people and statement such as this one only reinforces the way our people our viewed.
steelworker 9/24/2012 2:37:13 PM Report

Watch out Spyder or they will pull your comment for being "racist". It happens all the time on this site.

Wow @ Spyyder & Sootoday...Why do you let people post crap like this? Do you agree with it, is that why you let it stay on here? Plus why did you take off my comment earlier? Just because I called someone out on there assumptions? Not sure why I even read this stupid website and the stupid comments by all the stupid people!
angens 9/24/2012 2:44:58 PM Report

and you steelworker go take a flying leap! You are a racist! Mad because someone said you are...well I did!
thomas 9/24/2012 3:11:42 PM Report

They had numerous children witness this horrendous beating.

That tells me that this probably wasn't her first beating and those kids have seen this happen before. Maybe it was on a lesser scale, but they saw it just the same.

With so much help and support out there for abuse victims, I just can't "get" how a woman can go back into this situation again and again, especially with children exposed to these kind of horrors.

What a wonderful childhood they have! To think that they probably stood there (or hid), hearing everything and watching with eyes as big as saucers as he committed these horrors. Wow, just think what wonderful family values they are learning for their own future spouses and children. Sickening.

Surely to God she has to realize that she's better off alone, or that there are better, kinder men out there for this woman to spend her life with and raise her children with.

As for him, I hope he rots in some cell for a long, long time and that word gets around who he is so some other woman/women don't go through this once he is out.
Spyyder 9/24/2012 3:27:05 PM Report

What ever happened to freedom of expression?? Special treatment for the natives is used all the time and charges in domestic disputes, no matter how horrific are dropped by request of the abused party. Now let me say this if an Amazon woman treated their spouse or significant other as savage as this the man would be charged as the woman would be upset eyes red from crying and make up some song and dance for the police and then brag to her friends saying "I got him good". Wheres the justice?!?!?! Does anyone agree?? The mans point of view is obvious lets here it from the women... Do I have a point here? Yes it was unfortunate for the kids and neighbours to see it and worse yet to have not intervened, maybe thats just life on the rez, different culture, different values, beat either spouse male or female to get the desired action.
Shoeless 9/24/2012 3:50:31 PM Report

I too think that his name should be published. I fully understand the victim's identity should be protected but what if (I hope this happens) she does leave him. I think other women should be fully aware of this mans' background should he begin dating again? Assuming he does not get help with his anger management
Zarm27 9/24/2012 3:52:46 PM Report

That's seriously messed up, it does happen more often than it should in this area, but really that guy needs to be taught a lesson. It shouldn't matter if he grew up seeing that amount of disrespect towards women, or abuse running rampant on reserves, the fact is it's a grotesque act towards a woman (response towards the reduced sentencing). Furthermore, the elders and chief of that reserve should opt to kick him out in my opinion. If it was an escalating situation over years, any friends or family should feel disgusted with themselves for not saying anything, and I truly feel sorry for the children that witnessed it and wish there's family to help them and the woman through the emotional aftermath.

"wobbler...why are you telling me to read this. have you ever thought that i have been there?"

No I didn't think that you had been there. What you wrote did not give me a hint at all. To me it sounded like you were being scornful of frightened women and I was offended. My apologies for offending you.
Christina216 9/24/2012 4:58:06 PM Report

what i wrote was the truth as you may know...thats how ppl on this site get so angry. they read something and think it means something else. ppl assume to much and jump to conclusions to fast..wasnt intending on hurting anyones feelings nor do i know how my statment offended you.
SM-G 9/24/2012 4:59:31 PM Report

Very sad to believe that he will likely be released on bail with promises to "behave"!
It is not an "anger management" issue, it is abuse. Two different things.
Abuse happens in all walks of life, all races, and all income brackets. Unfortunately, people do hold very inaccurate stereotypes about the issue. It can happen to anyone.
I wish her and her children strength and support during this time, and hope they are able to move forward and start the long process of healing from this traumatic situation.
speed7 9/24/2012 7:10:19 PM Report

Anger and rage behaviour like this, beleive it or not, is learned pattern of behaviour, It needed to stop from the source. However this doesnt mean people who do this to their spouses should'nt be punished by the law to the fullest extent possible. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Sweet Gal 9/24/2012 8:44:37 PM Report

To bayers comment.. Not once does it state that the man involved was a native. It just stated the location and what police department investigated. It very well could be a white or black man who did this. We have many mix partners in todays society so it should not be assumeing who the native was in this situations. And my heart goes out to those children who saw and heard the events that happened that evening. If it was not a first time situation where was childrens aid to help even atleast the children. That's just wrong that they witnessed this and I would not wish that upon any child. I wish the best for the women and a fast recovery and that everyone will get the help they all need.
the coach 9/24/2012 9:38:27 PM Report

Dysfunctional at the extreme. The whole bunch need help.
Wicket 9/24/2012 11:30:28 PM Report

At what point does abuse of this extreme become attempted murder??? Does a weapon (other than someone's hand) have to be involved?
Working Man 9/25/2012 9:18:23 PM Report

Anybody who hits a woman is a weenie. I totally wish they disclosed this little *******'s name! I can't even say what I'd wanna do to him without getting my post deleted.
