100 days remaining for Celebrate 100! - Get involved!

SAULT STE. MARIE - September 23 marks 100 days remaining in the City’s Celebrate 100! anniversary calendar.

Celebrate 100! Management Chair, Councillor Susan Myers tells us: “It is not too late for the community to get involved.”

Celebrate 100! has maintained a year-long calendar of City and community hosted events with something happening each month.

The City was honoured to host Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston on August 29 for the public dedication of our City’s 100th anniversary flower garden and commemorative plaque.

“There is still time for organizations, clubs and businesses to mark the City’s special anniversary year by planning an event. We will promote it on our website calendar and at the televised City Council meetings,” says Councillor Myers.

Upcoming events include:

  • Sept. 20 to 23: The 1812 Rendezvous at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site
  • Sept. 22 and 23: Bushplane Days at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre
  • Sept. 29: Sault Symphony Orchestra 40th Anniversary kickoff event - Cirque de la Symphonie
  • Oct. 12 to Nov. 3: Algoma Fall Festival 40th Anniversary Program
  • Oct. 18: Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Business Awards Dinner
  • Oct. 31: 50th Anniversary of the International Bridge Opening - Plaque unveiling
  • Dec. 6: 100 Years of Art Exhibit at the Art Gallery of Algoma
  • Dec. 30: Farewell to Celebrate 100! Community Event at the Essar Centre
