WAWA - On March 19, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised by three separate local citizens that they had received letters that they believe were money scams.

One complainant had a cheque for a large sum of money and was asked to cash it and wire money to a certain account.

The frauds were not successful.

If you suspect that someone you know has been a victim of a scam encourage them to report the incident to their local police service, for OPP please call 1-888-310-1122.
