Sault singer/songwriter Cody McMillan is pleased to host not just one, but two CD release celebrations this coming weekend.
But these aren't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill CD release parties.
The 22-year-old will launch 26 original compositions, which comprise two full-length albums and one EP, on local music fans Friday, September 14 at Loplops (651 Queen St. East) and Saturday, September 15 at the Water Tower Pub (360 Great Northern Rd.).
McMillan told SooToday.com that he's been writing material for approximately eight years and has amassed a collection of more than 230 original songs.
Blackwater features McMillan with additional musicians Dave Pihlaja, James Watterworth, Rusty McCarthy, and Hannah Clement.
Mealtime in Atlanta is a solo folk full-length release, and McMillan's EP, Where's the Reality, was recorded with Dave Pihlaja and special guests Mike Severin, Tyrone Souliere, and Hannah Clement.
Friday's CD release at Loplops will kick off at 9:30 p.m. with a performance from Greg Callaghan, followed by a set from Joe Kargi.
Cody McMillan and the Soft Shoe Shufflers (Rusty McCarthy, Lindsay Pugh and Dave Pihlaja) are scheduled to take the stage at 10:45 p.m.
The evening will close with a set of traditional folk, blues and R&B tunes performed with a variety of guest musicians.
Admission to this show is $5 in advance or at the door.
Saturday's celebration will begin at 8:30 p.m. with Ed Young, followed by Britta Wolfert at 9:05 p.m.
Cody McMillan and the Soft Shoe Shufflers perform at 9:45 p.m. before another set of guest musicians and traditional folk, blues and R&B closes the night.
