Patient air-lifted to hospital from Hwy 17

Helicopter lands on highway - Medical emergency

Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a medical assistance call yesterday at approximately 12:20 p.m.

The patient had been on a train when a life-threatening condition occurred.

The patient that was transported out of the bush area to the highway by paramedics and had to be air-lifted to hospital.

The evacation site for ORNGE (Air Ambulance) to land was inoperable and Highway 17 North near Montreal River had to be shut down by OPP for approximately 30 minutes to ensure the safe transfer of the patient.
