Take Back the Night March Thursday, September 20, 2012

Taking it to the streets!!

Womyn 4 Social justice, Phoenix Rising Women’s Center, and other volunteers and supporters, present the 2012 Take Back the Night March.

The march will commence on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Phoenix Rising Women’s Centre.

Each year this march grows, with a diverse group of supporters standing together as a community to protest violence against women and children.

Community members show their support by walking with us to promote the dream of a world without violence.

This event has come to symbolize even more than the goal of safe streets, but also an end to violence in all of its forms.

Come and join us, as we take it to the streets.

We will gather at Phoenix Rising Women’s Centre on Albert Street.

Beginning at 6:30, we will walk along Brock Street to Queen, then along Queen to Elgin Street, and finish up at the Roberta Bondar Tent.

Please feel free to join us at the Pavilion if you are unable to participate in the march itself.

Free refreshments and entertainment will be offered at the big tent.

We will have a shout out to the Red Umbrella Campaign, and information about it.

This event is open to all.

For more information call, Bonnie Baranski, Womyn 4 Social Justice at 705-949-9669 or Natalie Nielson, co-ordinator, Phoenix Rising Women’s Centre, 705-759-5864.
