Since a portion of the Algo Centre Mall's roof collapsed in June, Elliot Lake has been without a library.

But Soo Mill Buildall has stepped forward to help provide reading materials through a Book Drive for Elliot Lake.

The longtime Sault-based company has operated a store in that community for 38 years.

Sault and area residents can help the cause by dropping off new or gently used hard or soft cover children’s books, paperback fiction or non-fiction books at Soo Mill's Great Northern Road location in the Sault.

Books can be taken there until September 22.

All collected will be available, free of charge, to Elliot Lake residents through Soo Mill's store at 4 Kilborn Way.

“Reading is a popular pastime for old and young alike and without the library, it is very difficult to find books in Elliot Lake," says Elliot Lake's Soo Mill Assistant Store Manager Nancy Boyle. "There is nothing like losing yourself in a good book.”

Watch for related information in Soo Mill's anniversary flyer tomorrow.

"Our internal book drive and books we’ve received through word of mouth have given us a great start, so we expect to be overwhelmed," notes company president Lynn Hollingsworth.
