AT 500 AM AST (0900 UTC) THE CENTER OF HURRICANE MICHAEL WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 33.5 NORTH, LONGITUDE 45.2 WEST.

MICHAEL IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 7 MPH (11 KM/H).

MICHAEL IS EXPECTED TO TURN NORTHWESTWARD BY TONIGHT...AND THEN NORTHWARD OR NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD AT A FASTER FORWARD SPEED ON TUESDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE DECREASED TO NEAR 80 MPH (130 KM/H) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. 

MICHAEL IS A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE WIND SCALE. 

WEAKENING IS FORECAST... AND MICHAEL COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM BY TONIGHT.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 15 MILES (30 KM) FROM THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 70 MILES (110 KM).

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 987 MB (29.15 INCHES).

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND: NONE.
