Will Johnee Rae Whalen be Canada's newest country sensation?
Sunday, September 09, 2012 by: Donna Hopper
Life for Sault Ste. Marie's Johnee Rae Whalen could change forever tonight.
The Lake Superior State University student was chosen by show producers last month to participate in CMT's Big in a Small Town.
The country music reality show will see one lucky winner crowned during tonight's broadcast of the 2012 CCMA Awards live from Saskatoon, and Whalen made it through last Thursday's semifinals and season finale to be one of two show finalists.
If selected by the show judges as the grand prize winner, Whalen will be awarded a singles-based exclusive artist agreement with Slaight Music Inc., production of two music videos funded by CMT Canada, an opening slot on the CMT Canada Tour, and the opportunity to present the Video of the Year Award at the 2012 CCMA Awards.
Friends, family and fans are encouraged to tune in to the live broadcast tonight at 8 p.m. on CBC to see if our home-grown country star becomes Canada's newest sensation.
