New wildfire reported in Wawa area

New fires
At the time of this report, one new fire has been confirmed in the Northeast Region.
Wawa 53 was a 0.1 hectare fire that has already been called out.
Fire ranger crews remain at each Fire Management Centre throughout the region, and are prepared to respond to fires as they arise.
Existing fires
There were two new fires in the region yesterday.
Sudbury 193 was a 0.1-hectare fire in Killarney Provincial Park that is now out.
Parry Sound 67 was confirmed at 0.3 hectares in Noganosh Lake Provincial Park and is under control.
There are no issues or concerns with this fire.
Nine fires remain classed as being observed in the Northeast Region, all in the Cochrane area.
These fires continue to be monitored, and are currently not receiving suppression action, due to agency resource management objectives.
Regional fire activity facts
- There are 17 active fires in the Northeast Region burning a total of 43,279.7 hectares.
- To date, 880 fires in the Northeast Region have burned 52,981.8 hectares.
Fire hazard
There are currently no Restricted Fire Zones in place.
A reminder that municipalities may have fire bans in place, so please ensure to check with them before doing any outdoor burning.
Ontario Parks may also have their own restrictions in place for each campground.
