In first Ad, Gary McDowell tells Washington they could learn a thing or two from a hay farmer

RUDYARD, MI – Gary McDowell, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 1st District, released his first ad of the 2012 campaign today to share his feeling that no one in Washington is looking out for Northern Michigan.
“Washington could learn a thing or two from a hay farmer,” McDowell, a lifelong farmer says in his ad. “Around here we balance our budget and pay our bills. It’s not that way in Washington.”
“The Democrats don’t want to cut the spending and Republicans don’t care what happens to people who have to work for a living. And no one in Washington is looking out for Northern Michigan,” McDowell continues.
McDowell recently completed his “Save our Retirement” listening tour to protect and strengthen Medicare.
He is currently travelling Northern Michigan and the U.P. on his “Our Lakes, Our Livelihood” tour to discuss the importance of the Great Lakes to Northern Michigan’s way of life and jobs.
“What I am hearing everywhere I go is that Congressman Dan Benishek isn’t looking out for Northern Michigan and the U.P.,” said McDowell. “Last year he promised us he would protect Medicare but one of his first votes was to force seniors to pay $6,400 a year more for their Medicare in order to give $200,000 more in tax breaks to millionaires. That’s not looking out for Northern Michigan.”
Gary McDowell’s first ad began airing today and can be seen across the U.P. and the Northern Lower.
