Public invitation: 100th Anniversary Flower Garden and commemorative plaque unveiling
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Mayor Debbie Amaroso and members of City Council are pleased to invite the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie to the City’s 100th Anniversary Flower Garden and Commemorative Plaque Unveiling ceremony to be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 - 3:15 p.m. at the Civic Centre north grounds off Bay Street.
Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will be honoured guests at the 100th anniversary dedication ceremony.
The Governor General will deliver remarks alongside Mayor Amaroso and Dr. Roberta Bondar and will present Caring Canadian Awards to local recipients Diane Marshall, Jean Wyatt and Chuck Vernelli.
An official welcome and courtesy call with Mayor Amaroso will take place at the Civic Centre at 9:45 a.m. on August 29.
Their Excellencies will inspect a Quarter Guard of the 49th Field Artillery at the Civic Centre front entrance prior to meeting with Mayor Amaroso.
The general public is encouraged to attend both of these special events.
