Highway 17 closed for several hours due to motor vehicle collision fatality

WARREN - On August 16, 2012 at 9 p.m., members of the Warren Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Highway 17 just east of Verner, in response to a two vehicle collision involving a west bound motor-cycle operated by 65-year-old Roger Grenier of Sudbury, and an east bound motor vehicle driven by 49-year-old Madeleine Simon of Verner.

Grenier was pronounced deceased at the scene and Simon was transported to West Nipissing hospital where she was treated and released.

Highway 17 was closed to both east and west bound traffic for approximately 6 and a half hours while Ambulance, Police, and members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators Unit (TTCI) attended the scene.

The OPP are continuing with their investigation and want to remind drivers to slow down and drive with care during wet conditions.
