New judge appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice
Ontario has appointed a new judge to the Ontario Court of Justice.
Justice Melanie Darlene Dunn was assigned by Chief Justice Annemarie E. Bonkalo to preside in Sault Ste. Marie, effective August 15, 2012.
Justice Melanie Darlene Dunn was called to the Bar in 2000 and became an associate lawyer for Greenspan, White in Toronto where her criminal practice included appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
From 2004 to 2008, she was a sole practitioner in association with Orazietti, Kwolek, Walz, Dunn in Sault Ste. Marie, and later in association with Dunn, Tremblay-Hall.
Justice Dunn has served as the vice president on the board of directors of the Algoma District Law Association, and as regional director for the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.
She was an assistant editor of the Canadian Charter of Rights Annotated and, for several years, taught evidence and criminal law classes in the Court and Tribunal program at Seneca College.
An active volunteer in her community, Justice Dunn has participated in various local fundraisers.
Most recently, she supported the Sault Ste. Marie District Humane Society as a board member, serving as its president for the past four years.
