Gary McDowell kicks off summer 'Our Lakes, Our Livelihood' tour in Petoskey
 

PETOSKEY, MI – Gary McDowell, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 1st District, will kick off his summer “Our Lakes, Our Livelihood” tour across Northern Michigan and the U.P.  this week [details to follow from his office]. 

McDowell is deeply committed to protecting the Great Lakes as one of our community’s most precious natural resources and crucial economic assets.

It is estimated that the Great Lakes supports 1.5 million jobs, but Congressman Dan Benishek has voted to eliminate restoration projects that protect the Lakes.

Congressman Benishek even voted for a special rule to allow cement factories to release mercury into Lake Michigan at the expense of our tourism and fishing economy.

On his “Our Lakes, Our Livelihood” tour, McDowell will meet with people who cherish and rely on the Great Lakes  to share ideas of how we can stop Washington from messing with Northern Michigan and the U.P.
