The Station Mall parking lot was home today to West 49 LRN2SK8, presented by Disney XD.
West 49 LRN2SK8 (Learn to Skate) is a free one-day educational event providing an introduction to the culture of skateboarding and skateboard instruction to beginners from ages 5 to 15.
West 49 LRN2SK8 is touring Canada over the summer, visiting 40 West 49 locations coast to coast.
“The program will provide participants a full West 49 skateboard experience in an enclosed mobile skatepark that includes the Sunny D Street Course featuring Element Drop Spot obstacles,” said Bradon Levalds, tour manager.
“We’ve had excellent turnouts in each of the communities we’ve visited so far,” continued Levalds. “West 49 LRN2SK8 provides a safe and fun environment for kids to learn tricks and continue to develop their skills through these educational sessions and mentoring.”
West 49 LRN2SK8 makes its way to Thunder Bay tomorrow, but not without first thanking the youth of Sault Ste. Marie, the Station Mall, and especially the staff of the local West 49.
