James McCurry: 1918-2012

SooToday.com received the following announcement today from the Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre regarding WWII veteran James McCurry.

McCURRY, James John –  Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, July 8, 2012. 

Beloved husband of Eva (nee Nanni) for 62 years. 

Loving father of Pamela McCurry of Ottawa and Brian McCurry (Hazel Rogers) of Sarnia.  

Much loved by his grandsons Christopher, Devon and Cory.

Pre-deceased by Bernie McCurry, Earl Schmidt, Harold Schmidt, Mary Schmidt, Len Schmidt, Ann Schmidt and Bud Schmidt. 

Brother-in-law of Al Nanni (Marion), late Orman Nanne (Glorya), late Terry Nanne (June), late Elsie Perry (late Arnill), late Ellen Hutchison (Gerry) and the late John Nanni. 

Jim will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 25) having served with the R.C.A.F. in England during WWII. 

In business, Jim enjoyed his relationships with many loyal clients, who, along with family and friends, enjoyed his gentle fun loving nature, generosity, thoughtfulness and endless patience. 

Jim enjoyed the simple pleasure of life and treasured the love received from those who knew him well, including recent healthcare givers, especially Amy and Lilian. 

Friends and family may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at Precious Blood Cathedral at 12 noon with Father Hamish Currie officiating.  

Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. 

Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke of Ontario or SAH – Renal Dialysis Care Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 are requested to gather at the Northwood Funeral Home on Friday morning for a service at 9:15 a.m.
