More new forest fires reported

Forest fire situation update - Northeast Region

Four new fires have been confirmed thus far today, July 10 in the Northeast Region.

Two of these fires are located in the Bancroft area, while there is one in both the Sudbury and Kirkland Lake area.

Each of these fires, currently under one hectare in size, are currently receiving suppression support.

Four new fires were confirmed in the Northeast Region on July 9 in the areas of Parry Sound, Sudbury and North Bay.

Parry Sound 22, a 2.5 hectare fire in the Horseshoe Falls area was actioned by two waterbombing aircraft as well as two FireRanger crews July 9.

Ground crews are continuing efforts on the fire today, July 10.

The fire is currently being held.

Sudbury 65, a 0.1 hectare fire is now out.

Sudbury 66, a 0.2 hectare fire south of Nepewassi Lake is currently receiving suppression efforts from FireRangers.

The fire is currently classed as being held.

North Bay 46 was a 0.1 hectare fire that is now out.

As the hazard is high to extreme across the region, a reminder to the public to use extreme care and caution in all outdoor activities during this high hazard time.

The MNR does not currently have a Restricted Fire Zone in place, however many municipalities do.

If you are contemplating the use of a campfire, please check with your local municipality for restrictions they may have in place.
 
There are currently 18 fires in the Northeast Region, burning 48109.5 hectares.
 
To date, there have been 358 fires in the Northeast Region, having burnt 49673.9 hectares.
