Promises, promises!!!
The North has heard it all before, Premier
NORTH BAY (June 25, 2012) - Representatives from the General Chairperson’s Association (GCA) which represents all unionized employees at Ontario Northland (ONTC) wish to respond to media reports that Premier McGuinty has promised to keep buses running after the ONTC fire sale is complete.
“Does anyone believe a word the Premier says anymore? He signed a pledge to never sell off the ONTC, now he is selling it. He and other members of his cabinet promised during the election campaign to support the ONTC and would move work to our North Bay facilities through a Strategic Alliance between Metrolinx and the ONTC. It never happened”, stated GCA spokesperson Brian Kelly.
“The Premier and Minister Bartolucci state that the divestment of Ontario Northland will be fair, open and transparent. But when the mayors of the Northeast met with the government no one could explain to them how the divestment process would work. When requests are made for information on the process to divest the ONTC and how that decision was made, all we got was heavily censored documents”, added Kelly.
“When our community partners asked for a meeting with the Premier he ignores the request. When over 300 Northerners travel from as far away as Owen Sound and Hearst to rally in support of the ONTC and asked to speak to the Premier about this important northern issue, the Premier refuses to meet them”, continued Kelly.
“Now he is promising to keep buses running after the fire sale of Ontario Northland is complete, even if that means subsidizing a private carrier. Shows how out of touch the Premier is. Ontario Northland provides that service now to Northerners without any government subsidy. After all his broken promise does, anyone believe anything the Premier or his government says in regards to Ontario Northland? The answer is a resounding no”, concluded Kelly.

Justin Tetreault 6/25/2012 3:53:58 PM ReportHow can they say that Ontario Northland runs without a government subsidy? The company has lost money every year since 2003 with the losses growing. That comes straight out of government coffers.

GREED!!!!! is your motivation plain and simple........sorry about your luck there bud but unions are here to stay and we just become stronger and stronger and stronger each and every day LOL.....This is simply liberalism they will line the pockets of their friends not taking into account the lively hoods of so many....its a shame that this liberal goverment has turned its back to the people of Northern Ontario..... as the writer says anyone who believes a word from these libs is a fool..weve heard it all before thanks..maybe Dalton you should straighten out your own party and the money they waste eg.. ehealth, ornge, etc etc, etc, before chopping the Norths esential services....this is why we pay taxes sir for services that help us grow and prosper as a Province and Country. unfortunetly goverments like yours seem to think they can just do as they please with our money without any accountability and if that means turning their backs on those other than their friends in southern ontario so be it....The truth some how always seems to bother these liberals I wonder why????????
