SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR SAULT STE. MARIE - ST. JOSEPH ISLAND - GREATER SUDBURY AND VICINITY - CHAPLEAU - MANITOULIN - BLIND RIVER - KILLARNEY - IGNACE - ENGLISH RIVER - SEINE RIVER VILLAGE - MINE CENTRE - SAVANT LAKE - STURGEON LAKE - GULL BAY - BLACK STURGEON LAKE - ARMSTRONG - AUDEN - WABAKIMI PARK - NIPIGON - ROSSPORT - GOGAMA - KIRKLAND LAKE - NEW LISKEARD - TEMAGAMI - ELLIOT LAKE - RANGER LAKE - NORTH BAY - WEST NIPISSING.

PERIODS OF RAIN WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED ARE FORECAST TO AFFECT MUCH OF NORTHERN ONTARIO TODAY.

TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR THE AREA ARE EXPECTED TO BE HIGHLY VARIABLE, HOWEVER MAY BE AS HIGH AS 100 MM IN SOME LOCALITIES.

RADAR ESTIMATES SUGGEST THAT AREAS WEST OF LAKE SUPERIOR RECEIVED 40 TO 75 MM OF RAIN SINCE LAST EVENING.

THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WAS OVER THE ATIKOKAN - UPSALA - QUETICO REGION WHERE 50 TO 75 MM LIKELY FELL WHILE THE THUNDER BAY AREA SAW 40 TO 50 MM FALL LAST NIGHT.

A RAINFALL WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THESE REGIONS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 30 MM CAN BE EXPECTED WEST AND NORTHWEST OF LAKE SUPERIOR TODAY WITH THE ATIKOKAN - UPSALA - QUETICO REGION AGAIN MOST LIKELY TO RECEIVE THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS.

MEANWHILE, CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST TO BECOME HOT AND HUMID IN NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO TODAY WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO PEAK NEAR 30 CELSIUS.

WHEN COMBINED WITH THE INCREASING HUMIDITY, HUMIDEX VALUES WILL CLIMB INTO THE MID TO HIGH THIRTIES.

THIS IS JUST BELOW THE THRESHOLD OF 40 FOR A HUMIDEX ADVISORY.

THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY ARE EXPECTED TO BREAK ON THURSDAY WITH THE PASSAGE OF A COLD FRONT.

awww gee whiz ,the Sault wasn`t mentioned awwww geeee. Enviroment Canada probably figured the people of Sault Ste Marie were bright enough to figure it out all by themselves. Perhaps they were wrong in some cases ...lol

The sault is mentioned at the top in the first paragraph under the bolded "9:45 a.m. update Hot, humid day ahead", people should try to comprehend what they are reading before typing a stupid response ... IMHO!
