And action. Hey, isn't that Trinity?

While Sault Ste. Marie may have some catching up to do when it comes to earning the title of Hollywood North, the burgeoning local film industry looks like it will continue to grow.

Bill Marks, producer of Compulsion, the latest movie to be filmed in the Sault, announced at Monday's city council meeting that three more movies will be coming to the city for filming in the near future; including a film featuring stars from the Trailer Park Boys.

"I look forward to continued association with the city of Sault Ste. Marie in the years to come," said Marks. "We look forward to working with the city to build a filming cluster in the Sault. Let's make this a city where it really happens."

Compulsion features the biggest name talent to appear in a locally shot film and the cast includes Heather Graham (The Hangover, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me), Carrie-Ann Moss (The Matrix, Memento, Snow Cake), Kevin Dillon (Entourage, Platoon) and Joe Mantegna (Criminal Minds, the Simpsons).

Marks has recently taken up residence in the Sault and one aspect of filming here he really enjoys is introducing new talent to the film industry.

"We get to introduce new people to the industry which is a really cool thing and the people in Sault Ste. Marie have been fantastic in that regard," he said.

Compulsion - tentative release date in 2013 - featured over 120 background actors and local actors Matt Connors, Gary Vena, Ann Sarich, Allyson Niro and Angela Sauve had speaking parts.

Additionally, the production was directed by Egidio Coccimglio, a Sault native.

The culinary program at Sault College was also involved in the movie as they did food styling.

"To anybody who says we don't make the grade, we do," said Rosalie Chilelli, Managing Director of Edge Enterprises. "The people in the Sault have gone above and beyond what anyone could have expected of the community."

Chilelli said over $9 million in film has come into the Sault over the last two plus years; which translates into $14 million in indirect spending.

"We have developed partnerships which I think will be valuable in the future,” said Chilleli. “I’m fortunate to live in a community whose people are resourceful, committed and kind.”
